We just returned from the beach. we would like to wash this. is it machine washable? if so, please share instructions. thank you!

I don't know about machine washing but I stretched mine out in the yard and rinsed it off with the water hose. But I don't see how it would hurt it . Use the gentle cycle. If you do use the washer , put the results in your review so others will know .

Can you turn the 7 x 7 into a four pole by ordering extra poles?

You can go onto Amazon and search Sun Ninja Poles. there are 2 sizes the 5ft5 poles for the 4 person Sun Ninja and the 6ft6 poles for the 8 person Sun Ninja.

Is this water resistant? Based on the video it is but I don't think it is

The Sun Ninja is Water Resistant NOT water Proof. light rain or a drizzle will run off it. It will not protect you against a heavy down fall.
