Hormone Repair Manual: Every Woman's Guide to Healthy Hormones After 40
S**S
Essential reading for all women over 40
I discovered Dr Lara Briden via her blog on female hormonal issues. Because her content helped my perimenapausal symptoms so much I decided to buy the book (kindle version). As her blog is so informative I actually wasn't expecting too much new content in the book, I just thought it would be a concise version of the info out there already......silly me.I only bought the book yesterday and I have already devoured most of it. There is so much new content in this book and will a godsend for anyone struggling with perimenpausal issues. It is informative, backed by science but not boring or overwhelming. In fact it is written in a personable style & I could relate to the case studies. It made me feel normal! What I really love about this book is that it is not faddy in anyway. We are not told to stick to a certain strict diet or to buy expensive powders or shakes. We are given information on supplements, medicine & foods that will help certain conditions or exacerbate certain hormonal conditions. It is also full of lifestyle changes we can make to help keep us healthy and importantly why these changes work.I have bought several books on perimenapause/menapause and by far this is the best one.Love it, love it, love it!

Plethora of useful information
I am just entering my 30s now and I have been experiencing PCOS for years without being diagnosed. Years of pain and misery and being told to take the pill or suffer by GPs was simply not acceptable to me. I was lent this book by someone and I swear, it was the breakthrough I needed; I could finally see a way out of my period misery. I have taken a lot of what Lara Briden has said and put it into practice and after only 6 weeks, I can already feel the difference in my periods and PMS. I think every woman should be given the information and tools to address their gynaecological health as soon as they start their periods. I wish I had known this information years ago!

A book every women needs
There is so much conflicting information being published about menopause and treatment that it is reassuring to read a book with such good medical knowledge and advice.

Empowering guide to peri-menopause and menopause
I found this book positive, empowering and inspiring. The author is clearly a leader in her field of medicine. Her extensive knowledge and experience is communicated in a clear and accessible manner.Part One is on understanding perimenopause and menopause. The introductory chapters cover the hormonal changes during menopause, evolutionary advantages and stigma.Part Two covers treatment. It starts with general maintenance. There are then chapters on specifics, for example weight gain, hot flushes, period pain and many more. Conventional treatments are described and helpful tips on how to speak to your GP. Diet, lifestyle, supplements and herbal medicines are given. It is comprehensive and I loved the holistic approach. Citations to medical papers are included if you want to delve in more details.I found this so helpful I've already bought another 2 copies to give to friends!

Helped my insomnia, migraines and moods
I’m 43 and had been suffering from perimenopause symptoms for around 3 years. The symptoms of migraine, insomnia, mood swings and food cravings were kicking in around day 16 of my cycle and lasting until my bleed.I was also having heavier periods closer together than previously.Having read through the book I approached my GP citing the studies quoted in the book and was prescribed progesterone as dr Lara briden talks about on a trial basis to see if it would help. From the first night I slept better, had fewer headaches and better mood. The only slight side effect was two spots upon menstruation which seems like a small price to pay for getting my life back!My husband and teenage daughters are also very grateful to Dr Briden for a happier better functioning wife and mum!!The GP seems happy to extend the trial so hopefully this situation will continue until menopause comes to release me from the hormonal washing machine we call femininity 😂The book and her other one, ‘The Period Repair Manual’ cover a huge range of topics in great detail and I would recommend all women to have a copy.Being in a female body can be a complicated business, we owe it to ourselves and those around us to have the best understanding of ourselves that we can 💛💛💛

Amazing helpful practical book
This is by far THE BEST resource on perimenopause and menopause out there. Lara Briden is incredible. I read her book and from her guidance started a protocol of supplements which has been an absolutely game changer. I’ve gone from having sleep issues, brain fog, headaches, migraine for more of a month than not; to sleeping through the night, feeling much more myself, brain back in gear and only 3-5 days of migraine a month in the 2 months I’ve been on this protocol so far. I had seen 2 GPs who where useless. This book and Lara’s Instagram has been FAR more useful. I so so so appreciate Lara’s work and this fantastic book.

My Dr. Recommended this book and I'm so happy she did!
I don't often write reviews, but I had to for this book because I recommend it to everyone I meet who is going through these changes too, it's been an invaluable guidebook to have at my side. I appreciate the easy-to-understand information about the root causes of symptoms and the evidence-based solutions. Most importantly, using the recommendations in this book, I feel a lot better and am sleeping well again.
