How can this product be 'organic' and contain a quemical that causes birth defects!?!?!

Hi MariaG,Thank you for your interest in our cacao butter. We understand your concern. Our butter is organic and contains the Cal Prop 65 warning label. Companies are required to place a warning label on any product they sell within California if it exceeds the level that the State has established as risk free for a list of over eight hundred chemicals. These standards are specific to the state of California. The chemical element that triggered this requirement is lead, which is a naturally occurring element that can be frequently found in soil and water. The lead standard in California is more stringent than what is required at the U.S. Federal level, and by other governments including Canada and the European Union. Thanks again,LindsayHealthworks

It doesn't taste like much on it's own (slightest hint of chocolate flavor), but I would say it enhances the flavor of whatever you combine it with.

Does anyone know if this cocoa butter contains caffeine?

Hi Anita, 
Thank you for purchase and for reaching out to Healthworks. There is a talk that Chocolate contains caffeine. It would seem that this rumor is based primarily on confusion between two similar alkaloids: caffeine and Theobromine. Theobromine is the active ingredient in Chocolate and it occurs only in Cacao. The two stimulants are related and have similar structures, but are different chemicals with different properties. Theobromine is comparatively jitter-free in terms of energy. There are of course, some Chocolate products that have added caffeine, but it does not occur naturally in Chocolate. There is no added caffeine to our cacao butter.
