My favourite pencils
Very good quality pencils, Iโve even given my dad and grandad one as they use them for marking wood. I love writing with pencil and these sharpen really well and last a long time. Despite being more expensive that other pencils, I think they are definitely worth it. They look nice too.

Fantastic
These are exceptional pencils. The first thing you notice is the smell. That probably sounds strange if you've never used premium cedar pencils, but these have that wonderful natural cedar aroma that makes sharpening them oddly satisfying. It's one of those little details that reminds you why people still use quality wooden pencils in a world full of disposable plastic everything. They're also unfinished natural cedar, which I love. No glossy lacquer. Just raw wood with a smooth, warm feel in the hand. They have that classic, understated look that lets the material speak for itself. Performance is excellent. The HB lead is smooth, consistent, and leaves a clean, dark line without being overly soft. It sharpens beautifully and, more importantly, the point holds noticeably better than a standard Dixon Ticonderoga. I found myself reaching for the sharpener far less often. The overall fit and finish is exactly what I'd expect from Mitsubishi Pencil. The lead is well-centered, the wood is cleanly machined, and everything feels precise and thoughtfully made. They're also made from recycled wood, but you'd never know it from using them. They don't feel cheap, splintery, or inconsistent in the slightest. If your benchmark is a yellow Dixon Ticonderoga, these are in a different league. Both write, but these feel like a genuinely premium writing instrument. They're a pleasure to use every day, and they've quickly become one of my favorite pencils.

One of the world's best pencils
It may be one of the world's best pencils. It's a Japanese pencil, so even though it's HB, it feels a bit more like a 2B European pencil. I use it for writing, not drawing, but it's an excellent all-around pencil. It feels a bit waxy, but being used to fountain pens, I appreciate that I don't have to apply as much pressure on the pencil to get a decently dark stroke. It needs a good quality pencil sharpener, e.g., a Derwent or similar. The tip stays sharp for quite a while in use, as long as you remember to rotate the pencil.
