If dropping this on a coyote, will it bounce or stop on him abruptly?

If you drop it on a cartoon animal you would want it to bounce.. the old drop a bearing on an anvil to check for a good bounce and a sharp ring voids manufacturer warranties.. so I'd assume bouncing would come from a work hardened steel anvil... So this one would definitely stop him dead because the metal is softer and the casting and hardening are very low quality because the metal would dent rather than bounce.. either way it's not the anvil you'd want to drive a cartoon character into the ground  like a stake it's more the kind you want to hand them after they step off s cliff to remind them about the whole gravity thing..

A tack hammer gave a nice little ping. Not terribly loud. It's a very high C natural.

why is the prop 65 warning addressed only to cali residents as if theyre the only ones susceptible? what chemical is it and where?

Proposition 65 is administered by Cal/EPA's California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA).1 Proposition 65 regulates substances officially listed by California as having a 1 in 100,000 chance of causing cancer over a 70-year period or birth defects or other reproductive harm in two ways. The first statutory requirement of Proposition 65 prohibits businesses from knowingly discharging listed substances into drinking water sources, or onto land where the substances can pass into drinking water sources. The second prohibits businesses from knowingly exposing individuals to listed substances without providing a clear and reasonable warning.

It is specified to California because that is the state with the law requiring the identification.

It is more than one chemical and you can do a Google search to find the list, just look up "what chemicals are included in prop 65" and you'll get a whole slew of info about it - including that there are is contradiction as to whether or not yet us actually any issue.

I'm new to blacksmithing , would this be heavy enough for small knife making ?

its big enough and heavy enough for jewlry making, unmounted. but it has holes in the bottom of it to be bolted down and mounted to something. so if it is a small knife, you would be able to use it but it would have to be hot forging and not cold forging. make sure to get a good hammer too. http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-24-oz-Rounding-Hammer/dp/B00279XH70/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410199963&sr=8-1&keywords=horshoeing+hammer this would be a good hammer to get. its got one rounded side and one flat side. but in order to get a good edge on a knife you need a good belt sander and a good eye to detail.
