Would these work on stones? Making Christmas presents with my grandchildren...

We use these markers for our stone painting, and they are terrific. They have a firm tip, and we haven't experienced any shredding. The only caution I would give is that you get the best line if you draw the pen toward you. If you "push" it away from you, you will get a little feathering. Example: If you are outlining a circle, you should do one side of the circle, pulling the pen toward you, then you should turn the stone so you can do the other side by also pulling the pen toward you. If you are writing or printing letters, and must therefore push the pen (as in writing the letter "O"), lift up a bit as you do the 'push' stroke, so the pen won't resist. I hope that makes sense. If you do get a little feathering, let it dry and touch it up with the other color (using another fine-point pen).
