Mesa Tactical Sureshell Carrier (fits Remington, 6 Shell, 20-Gauge)

Got Shells? Because I sure do
I was originally skeptical of it actually being in 20 gauge but I sent it and bought it and it was! I had an old youth Remington 870 I was redoing and its slowly completing the look. It took probably about 15 minutes to put on as the directions are somewhat confusing at first look. And It has a rubber adhesive back to resist scratching and marring you receiver. It holds my shells very well and upon first trying to insert them I actually couldn’t. With time they will loosen. That’s just the nature of these products and you can’t help it, it’s inevitable no matter who you are. You are given a replacement and from Mesa Tactical I believe you can buy replacements. It ships with all tools ready to install. The finish is nothing to write home over but unless you are making “safe queens” you’ll be using your shotgun and getting it dirty anyway! It’s aluminum too so it won’t rust anyway! If it’s really a big deal it’s can most likely be cerakoted or some other form of coating and have an equally amazing look. Over all great product for the money! Wish I found it sooner!

Best looking shell side saddle on the market
Pros: Fits well looks great!Cons: Installation wasn't as easy as a Tacstar mount, arrived in the packaging scratched up in a few spots. Anodizing/ parkerizing could be better. WILL not work with a Remington or ATI top folding stock setup, if using the factory 870 express or wingmaster forend it must be shortened or you must use a aftermarket forend.

is a worse situation than many customers would anticipate (bad-2) and results ...
There seem to be Dozens of similar products for holding 12-gauge shells, but finally there are a couple companies offering 20-gauge alternatives (that's the Good) and Mesa-tactical's metal-alloys specified are machined well. But the fussy (Mesa-Tac) rely that a "rubber" elastomeric tube is used in the retention of shells (two to choose from) seems flawed. I had to resort to a (found myself @ hobby store) silicone-elastomeric tubing to find the right amount of interference so as to retain shells in most conditions/temperatures (bad-1.)The way that Mesa dismisses itself from another problem that they DID forsee (fine print only on THEIR Webpages) about the forend colliding into their shell holder, upon installation, is a worse situation than many customers would anticipate. (bad-2) AND results in owners to have to really do some Gunsmithing to create clearance for pump-action function. Alternately Mesa assume that someone who is not able/willing to CUT away part of their original Shotgun's Forend will want to REPLACE the forend instead of cut/craft that part of their forend for clearance. Most accessories in this marketplace assume 10-mins of work to install. This one in expectantly took me almost 90-mins and a couple of Dremel bits with a steady hand, then some patience with sandpaper. Removal of the original Forend requures a specialized [gunsmith's] tool or lots of extra patience. And on the pack of the packaging is the following contradiction [Quote] "Requires no Gunsmithing" (which seems untrue] and "Forend may require Modification [cutting] for proper fit"If there were more similar products to compare this Mesa-tac shell-holder on the market [in 20-gauge] then I would have rated it 2-stars.

Very well built. Easy to install.
I bought this for a 20 gauge 870. It is very sturdy and well engineered. There are plenty of four-shell saddles on the market for this gun but this is the only six-shell that I've found. The only difficulty that I had was that I did have to carve the upper left side corner of the forestock off so that the gun would cycle properly. The instructions warned that this may be necessary. About two minutes with a Dremel was all it took to shape it nicely so that the gun would cycle without the forestock bumping into the saddle.

Very high quality
Fantastic quality, easily the best shell carrier available. Very solid, does a great job holding shells. The rubber friction retention system works really well. This model is for 20 gauge, so be sure of what you're looking for before you order it.
