Which are heavy mens dress socks, like gold toe socks formerly sold in costco, wide ribbed? based on reviews, gold toe makes their socks thinner now.

Costco carried Gold Toe socks that were very similar to the Hampton style from 2012 to 2017. It was branded as Gold Toe Sheffield (model #PO6384) and the blend was 72% Pima Cotton, 26% nylon, 2% spandex. Sold in 4-packs for $9.99, they looked and felt like the familiar Gold Toe Hampton (model #2054S) but the Costco version were more fade resistant. During that same period, Gold Toe continued to market the Hampton style but with a revised material blend - 32% cotton, 32% rayon, 27% polyester 8% nylon 1% spandex. The Hampton style and model number remained the same but the revised blend was a disaster. The Hamptons with 32% rayon kept their color but they were thinner and easily developed holes. They quickly lost their shape, didn't stay up and would get twisted around your foot if you walked a lot. In 2017, Gildan acquired Gold Toe and they restored the Hampton style and quality with 76% cotton, 22% nylon and 2% spandex. They're marketed as The Heritage Collection. Unfortunately, many large chain stores still have stockpiles of the rayon blend Hamptons which are often sold at bargain prices. The challenge is that the Hampton name and model # 2054S are the same for both types. If you're looking for the thicker, longer lasting, great fitting classic Hamptons, you have to read the material blend. Avoid the Hamptons with rayon and look for the 76% cotton blend Hamptons made by Gildan.

If you're lucky enough to find a pair of Gold Toe Hamptons (model #2054S) that were made prior to 2007, then yes.  Originally, they were made in a small town in Pennsylvania and later in North Carolina.  In October 2006, Gold Toe merged with Moretz and production of model #2054S was moved to China in 2007.

What does size "large" mean? there is no size "large" on the gold toe sizing chart.

I wear a size 10 shoe and the socks fit great!  I would think they would fit 9-11 perfectly.
