100 Most Beautiful Songs Ever for Fingerstyle Ukulele | Standard Notation and Tablature | Solo Arrangements of Timeless Classics

I’m not a singer, so finger style ukulele playing is best for me. This book is perfect for that. The material is challenging but that also makes it great. There is a wide range of songs. I’ve got three down, only 97 to go. 😊 But seriously, this book will provide me with many years of enjoyment.

This is an excellent book for ukulele players who want to play a variety of songs

The "100 Most Beautiful" title of this book oversells the contents somewhat. It is true that the book contains 100 songs, but there is no classical music and very little jazz, which do sound beautiful on the ukulele. The songs are mostly English-language pop songs from the second half of the 20th century. I suppose that is a fine time period since that is when most ukulele players grew up and Hal Leonard does mostly sell to English-speaking Americans. While there are many popular artists represented, the songs are generally not the most popular songs from those artists. The arrangements are relatively easy while still capturing the essence of the melodies. The arrangements are mostly single notes and first-position chords. Beginner fingerstyle players should be able to play most of these songs with some practice. I do like that the tablature includes full standard musical notation and lyrics. Even though fingerstyle songs are generally played without singing, having the lyrics as well as the standard notation do make the rhythm of the song easier to follow. I'm glad that Hal Leonard is able to publish a compilation like this. I hope they can put out more volumes with a wider variety of songs and difficulty levels. Accurate ukulele tablature for some of these artists is very hard to come by.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. It is my favorite ukulele music book. I have worn out the book. Of all the purchases I have made from Amazon this music and learning to play it has brought me more pleasure. I started playing ukulele four years ago. I am older and I do not play any other instruments. I became bored with chordes. Finger style allows you to play melody. Playing music I love helped improve my sense of timing. I love playing alone on my patio. I wish I played better but I don't have the time I'm just enjoying the ride.

Love this book. Not really for a beginner finger picker - I would say intermediate. Lots of great songs. Lot's of arpeggio's intertwined. Fingerstyle books with tabs aren't easy to find and so happy to find this new release!

I'm a beginner Ukulele player; this songbook was too advanced for me. Because of that, I'm basing my rating on my skill level and not that of advanced players. To avoid frustration at this point, I'm returning it. It is large and easy to read. Would be nice if it were ring bound or spiral bound for its 288 pages. Maybe one day I'll give it another try. Meanwhile, I guess it's back to the old old old boring songs for me, ha!

It’s a heck of a challenge, and despite my grand old age very few of these songs are familiar to me, but I’m determined to read music so ..... here we go..... And maybe I’ll buy an easier book for cheerful intervals.

Would have received five stars if all the songs can be on two page spread not 3 even 4 pages. Arrangements are decent not too easy or too difficult. Very doable. Wish there is a link we can listen to the sound sample so we can have better timing and rhythm of each song. Overall it is good value. I would buy again if there is a second book in the future.

The uke tabs just suit my need - started with the simple songs then later progress to the higher level skills ones. Absolutely worthy the buy.
