It’s an open plastic photo holder that you arrange your way. It depends on your decor. If your room your planning to put it in is family. It’s great but if it’s formal, it wouldn’t be good for that type of room. It’s casual

what size photos work for this?

This DIY picture frames is not affected by the size of the photo. You can hang photos of different sizes at will. The larger the size of the photo, the fewer photos you will hang.

Can you use Chalk markers on this board?

I haven’t used chalk markers on this but I did use chalk. It has the material of a chalk board so I’d guess it would be fine.

Is the photo frame solid wood?

Yes it is with a blackboard in the middle to write whatever you want .

Very cheap quality Magnets provided don’t stick on the board Clips provided to attach photos are very weak and can break with a blow of air I bought it as a gift and I don’t feel it was the right choice
