Great book!
One of the classics. Filled with an insane amount of images and info. A great introduction into a very special time. Love it!!

Great book, lousy print job
This is an extraordinary volume, well-written and packed with great illustration. Unfortunately, the quality of the printing on what has to be the cheapest newsprint available washes out a good number of the reproduced comic pages to the point where much of the drawing detail is merely a grey smudge and it's virtually impossible to read the dialogue balloons.I'm giving it a 5-Star content rating, but a 1-Star print rating--that why the score reflects at only 3-Stars.

The classic work on the underground comix movement.
This is undoubtedly the definite work on the history of the underground comix of the 1960s and 70s. It covers every artist of the movement (Crumb, Wilson, Spain, etc.),and gives plenty of examples of their work. The narrative by Estren, while a bit too "college newspaper" sounding, is insightful and provides a wealth of information pertaining to the artists, their work, and the times in which they lived. A must-have for anyone interested in underground comix.

Poor paper quality
A pseudo-intellectual review of underground comics. Overly verbose and pedantic. Cannot read most of the comic examples without a magnifying glass and a bright light. Poor paper quality. Wish I had my money back. In that regard it reminded me of the sleazy news-stands of my misspent youth.

Washed out blacks.
Reduced quite a bit from the original size, and blacks are washed out to grayscale, makes this edition difficult to read. Should have checked the reviews first.

and paper is like newsprint. Extremely disappointed
Should have listened to the other reviewers. Print is obscenely small, and paper is like newsprint. Extremely disappointed...

Perfekte Lieferung
