How do you clean the bags? Are they machine washable?

I would not machine wash. These are more structured and durable than regular reusable grocery bags. I would just wipe off if dirty.

How do they react to rain?

Not sure because I haven't had it in the rain yet, but looks like the fabric is at least water resistant, if not water proof.
