What type of markers are safe to use on this mat?

I personally have used the markers found here:http://www.amazon.com/Expo-Vis-A-Vis-Markers-Colored-16078/dp/B00006IFGW/ref=pd_sim_t_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1MCHWK4CEPYZZ14TNHSPGenerally any wet erase marker should work, and my experience with these ones in particular are nothing but positive. Very clear and vibrant, doesn't really smudge or come off when dry and very easy to wipe clean with a wet paper towel.

What, exactly, are the dimensions of this mat?

25.75 x 23.5 inches. It's not exactly square.The grid doesn't run right up to the edges. There are half-inch borders along the short sides and 3/4th inch borders along the long sides.The grid itself is 22 x 25 squares, which is why the mat is not actually square.

I accidentally used permanent marker on my mat. A cloth and surface cleaner did not bring it out, what should i do?

Like one other person said, using a dry erase marker over it then wiping it off will usually do the trick. If it still doesnt work a small alcohol prep pad wont harm the material

I tried it with VersaChalk Chalk Markers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0189162SU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00Most of the colors seemed to wipe off easily, only Blue and Red left stain marks. Be really careful with Blue, it seems like it stains almost instantly.
