Can you use finger weight yarn ?

I bought the bigger knitter and did put finger weight on it and it knit ok. It turns out to be a looser knit and a little smaller hat but it was still a good looking hat.

Is this easy for someone who has never knit,crochet, or sewn in their life?

I cannot get it to work. I constantly skips stitches and I end up starting over. I knit and crochet but have arthritis and thought this machine would help. I have gone back to crocheting myself as I have spent hours trying to get this thing to work with no success. I am very disappointed in this product
