Read descriptions to avoid mistakes
I was hesitant to buy this because so many reviews say 'lack of flavor' but then I looked at the bold print in the description where it says 'Unseasoned'. Well, duh! If it says unseasoned why are people so surprised you have to add seasoning? Why criticize a product when you're the one that didn't read the description? I see this as basically a mix of dry ingredients to make something else and what that is is up to you.In any event, my sister gave me a couple to try before I bought the whole pack and I was very pleased with them. I made the Italian vegetable soup and added orzo to stretch it and make it heartier. I also made the beefish stew mix and added a can of diced beef at the end. Of course I had to add seasoning to both. I think salt and pepper is pretty much all that's needed but I'm not big on spices.Based on those experiments I ordered the whole package and will update when I try some other ones. I wouldn't let the 'flavorless' reviews deter you.

I cooked with these for a week through 4 national parks
to be honest, after reading all of the reviews, i was a little hesitant about purchasing these because everyone said the flavors were miserable because of the lack of seasonings. however, a 2$ bottle of the mccormick griller seasonings from walmart was all it needed, and i will say being COMPLETELY honest, that when i cooked up the first batch, it smelled fantastic the way it was but i do love my vegetables. the longer you let these simmer, the better the flavors meld together. i would not hesitate to recommend this to someone, and the varieties are amazing.

Not really soup
It's a stretch to call this "soup" -- better to call them "vegetable medleys." They aren't seasoned, and the amount of water to add depends on what you really want out of it. (Rehydrated vegies floating in a pot of water isn't really soup!) For backpackers, they are easy, convenient, and tasty--a great way to add veggies to dry noodles or other dehydrated food. However, I think the serving size is a bit stingy and the calories would never keep a hiker/backpacker going! Best to experiment with these a few times at home before taking them on the road.

Tiny portions
I got this because it says there are several servings per bag but if you look at the calorie information, there is only a very small amount of calories in a serving. Since this is made for backpacking and strenuous outdoor actives, it is advantageous to have more calories per the amount of space and weight it takes up in the backpack. The taste is great but just be aware that its more like a garnish than an actual hardy meal. One person could easily eat tone of he whole bags on their own and still be quite hungry. Although if you add some fatty meat or rice/pasta or if you are not burning many calories it's perfect!
