Most of the GoPro footage I take is from some sort of head mounted contraption. Unfortunately when I'm with my wife, she doesn't like me wearing the head strap because it looks too goofy. For the past year I've used a heavy duty GoPro clip to mount it to any one of my hats which has worked mostly well. The problem with that was that put all the weight of the camera at the end of the bill of the hat. This is where this hat excels. The stitched in mount provides the perfect solid point with excellent weight distribution. I hardly notice it's there. One of the questions I was asking myself when I bought this hat was, would it be able to handle my massive Limefuel extended battery without any additional bars or screws and would the hat stay on with that extra weight and extreme movement? The answer is yes. I was pleasantly surprised. I feel that this hat is a much better way to handle the weight of the larger battery. This is a huge selling point for me. Lastly, I typically I don't buy non fitted hats and this was another concern of mine at first. I have a larger head and sometimes have difficulty finding hats that fit properly. I'm glad to report that hat size appears to be spot on, I purchased a large, and it's a nice lightweight, airy design. I've also worn the hat most of the day without the GoPro. Even when not filming, it makes a comfortable and functional hat. The construction also appears to be of decent quality. I will track how this holds up over the long run as this will most likely become my new mount for hiking and geocaching. Love This Hat. This hat is super comfortable even with a gopro on it. Its a mesh back so it can be worn outside without feeling like your melting. And having a gopro on your hat means you can have your hands free to participate in life. I had the original black version and now i have the grey version as well and love them both. The black version started to smell after uses i believe because the wool absorbs sweat so much i wash it regularly though. This hat is a very nice color (grey) also the black version, i feel it looks professional and the black one is nice because the gopro kinda blends into it. I have used these hats for many things from kayaking, to jumping around on a trampoline, driving a forklift, driving a car, skateboarding, playing in the pool, doing the yard, while shooting with other cameras ive used this to capture my environment around me while shooting (just did a shoot at a horse stable and i was surrounded by horses as i flew my drone one walked right up and watched over my shoulder and my gopro was catching my point of view of that while my drone was flying getting the shots. i wear this hat pretty much daily and i plan to get another if smatree ever updates it or gets a different color or fabric or whatever. This has become my goto hat. Also i have a waterproof light that mounts to a gopro mount so i can also use this and have a lighted hat for doing projects around the house or if the power ever goes out i am able to see without holding a light. the construction of this hat is very nice and strong. They have held up to a lot of use and tumbles. It does seem the fabric gets looser over time and the band stretches with use or sweat maybe. because when im having fun sweating i sometimes have to take it off and tighten it up in efforts to keep it on while im doing activities. If you have a gopro or gopro like camera this is the most needed mount of them all. you dont have to think about shooting you just wear the camera and get the shots while you go about whatever you were doing to begin with. I also like how this hat came with a gopro buckle j-hook mount and the bolt and nut all colored to match the grey color of the sewn in buckle. i wish i could buy the sew in buckles because id love to add those to my backpacks, bags, other kinds of hats.
