Does this fit in a car cup holder?

Yes it fits perfectly in the car cup holder. Another great thing about this 32 oz mug is when you stop for refills in the gas stations the charge is anywhere from $1.50 to less than a buck. You can't beat that!!!

Is there a place for a straw.

My husband loves!!!!! this cup. I purchased Slant Straws for 20,24,or 32 Oz. Cups on Amazon and they fit in the drink hole in this cup. The plastic straws clean up well and are great. This is a must have in our house.

Is the inside stainless or plastic?

The inside of the bubba 34 oz travel mug is durable plastic.

No. It is a push-in style lid. The seal (on mine anyway) is quite good, though.
