Can this also be used in a low ponytail for thick curly hair?

I couldn’t use it for any of my hair. I have thick hair. The clips aren’t as long as I needed them to be. As they use to be back in the 1990’s. I thought they would be longer clips. Couldn’t get enough hair in it to clip it closed.

Are the little teeth on the inside silicone? Or hard plastic?

The teeth are not little but they do grip hair very nicely. I believe - just my opinion - that the clips are made of a very durable plastic of some sort with a very thin layer of a matte finish. That being said I do not own a set that includes the tortoise shell style. I have the set of multi color and I love them.
