Hands: A Pictorial Archive from Nineteenth-Century Sources (Dover Pictorial Archive)

Great images, lots of variety and interesting objects included. But the downsides are the paper is too see-through and the pages are printed on both sides. So it's hard to make copies, but cutting out directly from the book means sacrificing images on the other side.

I bought this book out of sheer curiosity. I was curious how an entire clip art book of hands was possible and, truthfully, I dreaded I made a mistake making this purchase. However, I was wonderfully surprised when this book arrived. Many of the hands featured are operating wonderfully bizarre 19th century machines and mechanisms and there are even some anatomical skeletal hands included. Also, noteworthy, was the sign language, both one-handed and two-handed alphabets. I am very impressed with this book and it is a definite keeper for my mixed media art!

This book is fantastic as a reference book for artists. It has so many various poses, shadows and other characteristics that make learning drawing hands simple.

Great variety of hand "art". Did NOT disappoint! A great resource for collage.

This is my second buy of this book. The first one walked away! That speaks to the great collection in this book of hands.

Need reference for an "Ole Timey" sign saying "This Way!" this is the book you want. I mean it has a lot of other good reference for differently position hands and gestures. For the price, if you're a graphic designer this book will pay it self off after one job.

hands, hands and more hands in all sorts of positions. if you're looking for hyper realistic hand reference, then this is not what you're looking for. i think it's an awesome reference book!!

Awesome book, especially for artists!

This was an excellent reference book for hand designs. We used it both for tattoo ideas and in a profession capacity to tattoo some of the designs. Hands are particularly hard to draw be it on paper or skin so it was great to have so many images in one collection. They appear in all sort of positions, angles, holding things, etc. Couldn't rate this book highly enough.

WOW took me ages to cut them all out but I had such a laugh at the beauty and ephemera of the hands and their jobs. Great set of books and this was such a steal. Do wish they were on better quality paper though......painted often disintegrates the paper is over used.

This was bought for my son who is an artist, the illustrations are a good reference point for the variety of placements and positions our of hands
