The only solution for keeping hardwoods clean with kids and pets!
Yes! This Bissell vacuum and floor mop is just what I needed to keep my hardwoods looking great even with a yellow lab in the house. I owned a previous version of this mop and it was okay, but not great. It died at just over a year and while I was nervous purchasing another one after the first one died so soon, there is no other solution for keeping my hardwood floors clean. For those who are new to this concept, the very front of the device is a vacuum, so dirt in front is vacuumed up and then the floor is cleaned. It is important that one goes forward and backward in the same row, or space, in order not to get dirt wet and make it more challenging to vacuum. As long as you move forward and back in a straight line, then move to another line, the device works really well. I have about 1500 sq ft of hardwoods on my main floor that I need to clean at least every other day, due to my yellow lab and two children with many friends coming in and out all day. Vacuuming and then using a floor mop is too time consuming, so usually I would just vacuum. With this I can get the floors looking 90% as good as if I used my vacuum and then mopped the floors. I just put on my headphones and go! The only cons from my perspective are: - I can't use it on the rugs (obviously, since you don't mop rugs). You can easily flip off the mop pad and vacuum a bit, which works okay on flat rugs, but not my wool rugs. - Once anything is wet, it is hard to vacuum up. This can be hard with lab hair, that flies about. Just be methodical about your path and it works fine. - The mop doesn't get into the corners quite as well as I would like. I think this is due to the vacuum being in the front. In conclusion, this is my every day or every other day floor cleaner. Once a week or so I get out my Dyson and mop and get the corners, but this device gets me through the week and keeps me sane.

Works very very well. Buy it, you will love it !
Best otem I ever bought on Amazon ! This thing vaccums the floor and then steams it clean Like disinfecting my floors weekly. Very essy to set up. Poor the water in , turn it on, wait 60 seconds a boom ready to clean the floors ! Perfect on my ceramic tile floors. Its so hot that by the time I finish the line , its dry already. This is a must have item for any home. Especially if you have pets or kids. You will love how clean the floor feels under bare feet. This is the only sweep mop vac tool you will ever need again. Quality workmanship. Easy to use. Gets very very very hot, on the floor that is. I always wanted one, just wasnt sure. Now I know. Cant live without it now !!

Very Good Product -- You Can Disregard Most of the Negative Reviews..
First of all, I have to commend Bissell for even attempting a product like this. Why? Because of SUS (Stupid User Syndrome) that is typically rampant in both floor steamers and vacuum cleaners by themselves. SUS is amplified x2 when combining these two products. I don't understand why quite a few people here find direct manufacturer replies to these reviews as suspect. I find it to be excellent customer service! If you read through the 1-star reviews, the majority of them say the Bissell Symphony worked perfectly the first few times/months they used it, but then it stopped performing well. Guess what, people? You have to maintain your housecleaning tools! I own three different vacuum cleaners, two different steamers, one hard floor scrubber, and one carpet cleaner. After every time that I use any of these, I thoroughly clean them. With my vacuums after each time that I use them I remove hair and debris from the power brushes, I wipe out the inside of the dirt cup with a wet paper towel, and generally clean the entire outside casing. Every two or three times that I use the vacuums I clean the filters as directed in the operator's manual. About every six months or so, I actually remove the hoses and run water through them to remove any built-up dust, and then allow to drip dry. These are all things you must do or every vacuum is going to fail over time. If you don't want to do this, then I suggest you revert back to a broom and dustpan, as they don't require any maintenance. Have fun with that! With my steamers I only use distilled water. The reason why stares at me every few months when I get a shower -- all of my shower heads in my house are crusty with mineral build-up because most city water is ridiculously hard. You should be doing the same thing in all devices in your house that produce steam -- steam cleaners, steam mops, clothing steamers, irons, etc. There's no place for those minerals to go when tap water is converted to steam, so it stays in the product and affects performance. Usually you can resolve this by running a cycle or two of diluted vinegar/water through it, but it's just better, easier, and usually cheaper or about the same price to simply use distilled water. You should especially use distilled water when the manufacturer specifically recommends it. Not doing that is, frankly, SUS (Stupid User Syndrome) and definitely not the fault of the product or manufacturer. Also, a lot of the complaints seem to be centered around cleaning up heavy messes. This isn't a shop-vac or an industrial steam cleaner -- it's more of a regular, routine cleaning device. If your home is really so filthy that this device cannot clean it, then you probably need to either clean more often or switch all you devices over to industrial/commercial models that are made for cleaning the apparent restaurant/hotel level of filth that you seem to be encountering. I have pets, I have children, I have women in the house with long hair, and I've never encountered messes that my consumer home appliances couldn't clean or maintain. Now, all that being said, the Bissell Symphony works just fine for me, even after months of owning/using it. Does it vacuum as well as my dedicated vacuum (Shark Rotator Liftaway Professional)? No. But even a Dyson vacuum doesn't clean as well as my Shark does, so I really didn't expect this product to either. I expected it to clean as well or better than my Hoover Lynx cordless vacuum (which is an excellent cordless vacuum by the way), and it does do this. The Bissell Symphony does steam just as well as both of my other steam mops (if not actually better because the steam starts faster), and it is nice to not have to vacuum the whole floor first. Admittedly, if I want my home to be as thoroughly clean as I can possibly get it (like I do once or twice per month), I vacuum the whole house with my dedicated vacuum and then steam mop all the hard floors with a dedicated steam mop. However, between these ultra-thorough cleanings, the Bissell Symphony does an excellent job of maintenance cleaning, and because it's combo device, I can get it done in roughly half the time. My time is valuable -- so it's nice for housecleaning to not take as long every time. There are several problem areas in my home -- by the guinea pig cage, under the bar stools, and under the dining room table. I usually hit those areas (and only those areas) with my Hoover Lynx cordless, and then just use the Bissell Symphony on the entire floor. I originally rated the Bissell Symphony 4/5 stars because I feel there is room for improvement on both the vacuum and steam mop sides. I do feel that if this item was improved it would most likely cost a lot more than it does, so given the price/performance ratio, I feel this is overall a very good product to excellent product as-is, which would probably get it more like 4.5 stars, so I rounded up.

IF YOU HAVE LAMINATE OR TILE, YOU NEED THIS! Cuts cleaning time in half!
FINALLY!!! A fabulous invention that saves me HALF the time in cleaning my floors. Recently installed new laminate floors throughout my home. I love them - except boy do they get dusty and dirty quickly!!! After months of sweeping/dusting then mopping, I hopped onto Amazon searching for an all in one system. I LOVE this Symphony!! A few things took a little learning curve, which I'm sure are what other folks complained about -but once I figured them out, it works great! - The vacuum suction inlet is directly in the middle of the front of the vacuum. Not along the whole front edge, like a traditional vacuum. So, aim for the dirt with the center of the leading edge in a forward direction. Backwards doesn't work as well. - The water inlet door is kind of weird to open at first. Pinch and pull the top outward. - The unit comes with 4 cloth mop head covers. Wet them, wring them out and rinse/change them every so often, because they do get dirty and if you keep mopping with a dirty mop, you're going to get mud where the dust was. Other reviewers complained about this - but think about it... this is not a problem with the machine, folks, you can't expect to mop a whole home without rinsing the mop, nor should you expect one cloth mop cover to mop the whole house without being rinsed. That's why they give you FOUR of them! THE CONS- The power cord is really short. Like waaayyy too short. I bought a 10' extension for $3 and it solved the problem - just buy one with a 3 prong receiver. THE PRO'S I now clean all the floors in my home in half the time I spent before. The steam doesn't bother my laminate floors at all, and they come out sparkling clean and streak free!

Beware of falling handle - Poor design all around
After reading many reviews, I decided to give this vacuum/steamer a try. There were concerns expressed, and I would have to agree with many of them. While it did a mediocre job on our floors, BE AWARE that the handle does NOT lock upright. This ended in a nasty foot injury (photo). This is a major design flaw and Bissell needs to address asap for next gen machines. Some PROS: Steam is quite hot, mop piece is sufficient (if dampened with water prior to installing for use), and the vacuum function while mopping is a great idea - needs improvement on functionality. The mop pieces are good quality. However it didn't come clean even after two washings, the second with bleach. The telescoping handle is a nice feature, but hard to pull up and get locked into place. CONS: --Handle does not stay upright as noted. This is because the water reservoir is on the handle, making it heavy. There is no lock/kick plate release function (as on a normal vacuum) and the cord is quite heavy duty making it likely to unbalance the whole thing. --Leaves dry fine dust behind - I used the machine for nearly an hour on our older vinyl flooring. With a great deal of repeated passes, it eventually pulled up the stuck on food bits, spots and larger pieces. I had to go over it with a Swiffer dry mop to finish. This seems stupid to have to do after working so long with steam/vacuum. --Machine head while small, fits under cupboards, and tall stools easily, it's awkward to maneuver with the heavy handle/body of the machine. --TERRIBLE handle design. The triangle shape may look modern, it's terrible to use. You can't see the indicator buttons/lights on it without stepping forward to see them (I several times didn't realize the steam wasn't generating cuz I couldn't see the buttons), or pulling the handle down. The steam button is too large, doesn't "feel" like you're pushing it, and is hard to not engage it as it's right exactly where your hand needs to grip the handle. It's truly a terrible design and I wonder what board meeting this was thought up in. Apparently they never intended to actually USE the design. --It's heavy to lift and maneuver. I have back issues, and was hoping to reduce the effort needed to sweep, mop and keep our floors clean. This isn't the right option. I was sore for 2 days after using. (aside from an injured foot) --If having trouble getting the suction to pull up a loosened piece of debris, stop engaging the steam trigger (difficult to do given the terrible triangle handle design), push the unit ahead of the piece and go backwards over it. That seems to grab it better and stops pushing it around. --I'd recommend running out the water reservoir and not let the machine sit with water in the tank. Another review noted it can leak out. --It CAN work on carpeting, but don't bother. Not enough suction to pull anything past the surface. --Just TOO expensive for poor functionality. Hopefully this review will stop others from purchasing this mistake and get Bissell's attention to go back to the drawing board.

Happy with my purchase!
We ordered this because we recently tore out all the carpet in our house, and our current sweeper is not vacuuming the hard floors very well. I have a toddler and so I vacuum and mop every day to keep the floors clean since he is crawling and walking around on them. I got this in the mail yesterday. It was easy to assemble and easy to figure out how to use. We have hard wood floors throughout the house and in our bathroom we have textured linoleum that looks like tile. This works great on both. I misunderstood that although during set up you need to push "high" for the steam, it doesn't have to stay on high the first time you use it. I used high on our hard wood floors and it left streaks all over the flooring. When I browsed through the program guide, it was not specific about which floors require low or high heat (maybe I missed that)...so that would be a good thing to change in the future. I used low steam for the rest of the hard wood floors and there were no streaks. I was able to fix this problem by waxing the floors afterward, which I had planned to do, anyway, and the streaks are all gone. I already love this machine because it cuts the time I spend cleaning. I can vacuum and mop at the same time, and it works way better than our other vacuum cleaner. For sticky messes, I definitely needed the scrubby pad and had to go over the mess a couple of times, but that is no big deal. I like that there are no harsh chemicals on the floor where my toddler is playing. Very happy with my purchase and worth every penny!

"You are gonna love it. Mine works great
I purchased this product and was actually a little scared because it has received mixed reviews. My cousin owns one and he convinced me to purchase this item and stated, "You are gonna love it. Mine works great!" So, I ordered a display model that had never been used. It was missing two pads and the instruction manual and this is how the product was offered. So, no complaint there. This gadget is so self explanatory that I did not need the manual anyway. I absolutely love the thing!!! I swear this is the best gadget I have every purchased. I have a cat and a dog that both shed profusely. I also live in the country with no pavement around my house, dirt floors in the garage, and a huge garden. The piles of dirt that are drug into my house are immense. This gadget picks up all that dirt very well. I have vinyl plank flooring in my kitchen and laminate flooring through the rest of the house. Someone did state that it would not pick up big objects and I say what vacuum will? If I find that it is pushing the dirt rather than picking it up I tilt the machine back, place it over the big chunk, and it will pick up the dirt. I have always had to do this with vacuums. This gadget came in four pieces. The handle snapped right in and is adjustable. The body of the machine snapped right into place on the head of the machine. I placed the cleaning pad on the base of the machine and it snapped right into place when I sat the machine on it. There is a tab on the pad try that you step on to remove and once you get used to the idea that this is not what you have to do to tip the machine back it is great. I just put my bare toes or stockinged foot on the machine head itself to tip it back. I did all of this without the manual. I did follow the other reviews of this product and have been using distilled water. To put the water into the machine, you pinch to tabs at the side of the machine and pour the water in. The entire dirt catcher comes off the machine by sliding a lever over. I was a little confused about the operation of that. I tried to take the filter off the top but then realized the dirt dumps out the bottom. This is the only time that I thought the user manual, other than the need of distilled water, would have been handy but it truly was a no brainer to figure out. There is a slot that the dirt cacther slides back into and the lever just flips back. When I started the machine for the first time I let the machine sit for a little bit to prime and then the light comes on saying the steam is ready. You can use this with high or low steam. I have only used high steam as my floors are usually filthy. The steam will stay on, as other reviews state, until you shut it off. The steam control is in the handle and you pretty much have a squeeze on the thing the entire time it is in use but you can shut the steam off on the handle. So, if you think of the other complaints that you can't just vacuum and the wet mop pad causes problems with just vacuuming--you could just put a dry mop pad on--but why I say would you not want to steam at the same time? When you shut the vacuum and you do need to shut off the steam or it will keep steaming and run the machine out of water but if you unplug the machine when your are done this is not a problem. This machine also comes with an extra filter and the filter can just be rinsed out. I say bury your Swiffer. I have used one of those swiffers with the wet pads for years & that just seems to leave dirty streaks all over the floor. This machine will not reach into those little corners behind the toilet and such but I would like refute the claims that it does not clean well by the mop boards or get under the cupboard to the kick board. It does take a little longer at the mop board for a good clean but it most certainly works better than my broom and wet swiffer. There are some little corners that you may need to wipe by hand but this is the cleanest my floors have every been. I am walking barefoot and I have no grit on the bottoms of my bare feet!! I also always have hairspray with dirt and dust stuck to it caked on my bathroom floor & this gadget cleaned this up so much easier than any other method I have ever tried. Prior to this I have found myself in the bathroom with baking soda and water scrubbing to get this dirty mess off the floor. I did order the smelly disks for the mop pad and they do give off a nice smell while in use. I removed the disk when I washed the pad and cannot say what would have happened if I had forgot the disk in the pad when tossed in the washer. As far as the durability of this product, I can not attest but so far I am in love. I have always hated sweeping and mopping and this is the best thing that has ever happened to my house and I actually love this task now.

Disappointing Vacuum, Good Steamer
I have hardwood floors and tile all throughout my house - no carpeting. I've been using a shop vac to clean my floors because they have such great vacuum suction as well as the ability to clean up wet/dry messes. The only issue is that I've been wanting something to spare me the time it takes to mop my floors... I purchased the Bissell Symphony in hopes that with it's almost 5-star rating, I would have my floor cleaning problems solved. Well, here goes.... I am actually really pleased with the steam mop part of this product. The vacuum, on the other hand, quite frankly is awful. The suction is pretty weak and I've noticed that it only pushes around debris. My family had rice for dinner the other night and my attempt to vacuum up the little grains of rice on the floor was a failure. I ended up having to get out a broom and sweep them up into a dustpan. Same thing happened with sand that my little boy had tracked into the house from his boots. I do like the steam mop part. It does steam quite effectively and the water reservoir is sufficient enough to clean about a 1200 sq. foot area in one filling. Another issue that I've noticed is that with the combination of dust/dirt/debris and water from the steam, it all gets caked around the vacuum mouth on the underside, then falls off onto the floor while in use, and then gets pushed around instead of being swept back up (then I get out my broom and dustpan and manually sweep it up again...). It's become a bit of an exhausting process and this Bissell Symphony had become an over glorified mop, good only for steam cleaning. I would actually get more out of sweeping with a broom, followed by mopping. If given a second chance, I would NOT purchase this again. Overall, I'm disappointed and looking into a Shark... THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE IT BETTER: - A vacuum with great suction! - An extension vacuum hose that you can use to clean up small and tight areas.

Excellent product! You won't be disappointed!
This All-in-One Vacuum and mop is AMAZING! I have a lot of laminate flooring in my home, upstairs and downstairs. I used to DREAD floor cleaning day. Even to just daily sweep was a huge chore. I have 4 children and 2 dogs, so you can imagine how dirty my floors can get. It used to take me 3-4 hours to sweep and then mop my floors. This machine saves me an incredible amount of time! I can do ALL floors, vacuum and mop in under an hour! I have been using this product for a month now and have told so many about it and how they HAVE to get one. I love the convenience or it doing both jobs at once. The vacuum is excellent, great for crumbs in the kitchen, and wonderful for dog fur. I use the vacuum sometimes alone. Honestly, my floors feel 10x cleaner with this steam mop then they ever felt with the mop and bucket of cleaner. If I had to pick one thing I would change about this product, it would be to make it a little lighter. Its a little on the heavy side but its not unbearably heavy.

Me encanta!!!

Convenient all-in-one vacuum/steam mop
The 2 level steam function is great for use on both hardwood and ceramic tile. The ability to vacuum and mop at the same time is also phenomenal as it cuts cleaning time in half, as well as not requiring harsh chemicals to clean. The unit is a little harder to push when using the steam mop but it is not too bad. The vacuum could be stronger but I don't think this is the main function of the unit as it is probably meant for lighter cleanup and not a full deep clean. It is able to vacuum my floor rug just fine but will likely not do a good job on higher pile carpets/rugs. The unit is easy to empty of debris and easy to fill with water. The water tank will last roughly a full floor (~900-1000 sq. ft) before needing a refill.

Buena, pero ruidosa
Esta aspiradora es muy práctica. Limpia muy bien los pisos duros. No sé si sirva para alfombras. Sus desventajas: es bastante ruidosa y el hecho de que tiene cable.
