Depends on What You Want
Okay, so I got it!! I posted some answers to some questions about this device, and if you read them, I don’t really say if this is a “good” or a “bad” device. Yes, I purchased it from amazon, I own it. I have not been paid, I have not been asked to give a good review. Or a bad review. Honest to God. You need to understand why I got it, and the fact I really care about reviews. I get pissed at reviews in certain places because I don’t know if they mean anything. I really mean this review. Someone was in my house that shouldn’t have been. Doesn’t matter how I know, I know for a fact they were. I felt violated, a mixture of pissed and embarrassment, partly because I know that I am at fault for 5% of why it happened. Again, unnecessary detail, but it’s a fact. So, I start thinking about getting cameras, but I don’t understand shit about them. I’m not stupid, in fact I have a Ph.D. in physics from a really good University. In 1993. Oh, I know about infrared light, I know about infrared detectors, I know about storing files to the cloud, or to a local drive, electrically hard-wired or battery, wireless or connected to the router. But, there are SO MANY CHOICES, it was hard to understand, and prices went from silly cheap to very, superduper high. It turns out, the main reason it was difficult was because I DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WANTED. That’s really what it comes down to. For me, anyway. So I bought this mainly because it was cheap and because it was battery driven. And because I wanted to understand what “security” cameras are like, so I bought this mostly for experimenting with, just to get a feeling for what these things are, without serious commitment. I experimented with this thing over 2 weeks, about 20 hours total. Yes, I have other things to do, like work, BUT someone was in my frickin’ house, and I know they were. I feel raped. I’d really like to get them on a video, take it to the police, and see their face when they are caught. Here is what I learned about this one: It only works well if there are no reflective surfaces near it, primarily in the up and down direction. I initially put it on my front door, like it was designed for. “Doorbell”, right? But I have a “storm door”. This thing will not detect motion behind a window. I would walk around in front of it, 50 feet, nothing. I would walk up the stairs to the front door. 10 feet, nothing. 5 feet, nothing. 1 foot, nothing. I’ve got my nose up to it through the glass, nothing. Six inches, making faces, nothing. Wave like crazy, nothing. I thought it was defective, some other reviews say the same thing. All I can say is us Americans are not patient and sometimes dumb. I ended up being completely wrong. It just can’t detect motion through glass and close reflective surfaces because it uses frequencies, just like every other motion sensor, with wavelengths that cannot “see” in those conditions. Even tried through a screen, it would detect me only if I got within 2 feet, and then it was hit or miss. I can get a live view. It’s very bright, hard to see outside the storm door. But I do see a car, live, driving past, 50 feet, but it is hard. I can sort of tell my cat is walking by, or sitting on the stairs, 10 feet, but it’s not clear through the glass because it looks so bright, or so fuzzy through a screen. Either way, the detection of motion sucks. I thought I was ripped off. Turns out I wasn’t. The motion detector works really, really well, IF THERE ARE NO REFLECTIVE SURFACES close to the device. I took it off the door, and placed it downstairs, little to no light even in the day. I did this because I know the person who was in my house went downstairs. I’m thinking, ‘if this person goes downstairs again, I want to nail them”. I tried positioning it in several places. If there are no reflecting surfaces, mostly in the up and down directions, it caught me peeking around the corner. It caught my feet, then the rest of me coming down the stairs. I always set it to the highest sensitivity and 30 seconds recording, and it catches me every time, in less than a 2 second delay between detecting my motion and starting to record. When I place it like this, no reflecting surfaces close by, especially in the up and down direction, when I look live, it is extremely clear. No bright spots, easy to see to at least 25 feet. It’s like some scenes in paranormal activity. If it is near a surface, it looks “bright”, live, in that direction. When I put it in locations downstairs that was within, say, 8 inches of the ceiling, it would be hit or miss. Sometimes it would catch my motion, sometimes not. I noticed when I looked live, it always looked kinda bright on the top, toward the ceiling. I’m thinking, it is dark down there, why does it look bright toward the ceiling? I now understand that this is because it is reflecting off the ceiling! I finally got the idea the problem is reflecting surfaces. So, I put it on a wall in the basement l that was not close to the ceiling and was not close to the floor. The thing would catch my feet as I was walking down the stairs, 16 feet away. My smartphone would go off as I was walking down the stairs! The camera was perpendicular to stairs, no reflective surfaces I ran and hid, around a sharp corner. I waited until the blue light, with the red led, was off. I then peaked around the corner 18 feet away. Angle was like 50 degrees. Blue light came on with the red led immediately. It caught me, and was recorded. Sauron sees all. The app is okay. It’s not super great, it’s not bad either. In a fair grading system, it is a B- or a C+. Bottom line: What do you want a camera for? If you don’t have reflective surfaces, or not try to go through things like glass, this will work. I don’t use it at all for talking to someone, unless I can catch someone with an alert or live. Then I will scream at them, and I will call the police. I’ve talked to my cat a few times, and she turned to look, so she hears it. I now know why some reviews are like, there is little delay, or there is alot delay. Keep it away from reflective surfaces. It gets confused with the motion detector if you don’t. It works very well if it has an unobstructed view in front of it, up and down. If there are no reflective surfaces, up and down, it detects things left and right with a very good angle, maybe up to about 60 degrees, 120 total, with little delay, and your phone will go off. I could not hide from it around a corner. For what I am using it for, I wish that damn blue light, plus a little red led, would not come on, because the person that should not be there will know they have been recorded. It won’t matter if they run like crazy, it will have recorded them. However, they could also destroy it and the default is to record to a card IN the device, so the recording will be gone. For my purposes, storing motion detected humans to the cloud is the way to go with this. Or disguise it somehow, without having continuous reflective surfaces. I’m keeping this. For you, it depends on what you want it for.

Totally wireless, super easy to install!!
I live in an apartment, I am a girl and I live alone. I got a security alarm, I signed up with Blue by ADP, I went with them mostly because of the package that included a doorbell camera. As some of you must know, most apartments don't have doorbells, so the ADT doorbell camera was a waste as it has to be hard wired to the old doorbell. That was upsetting, I really wanted a camera at my front door, after doing some research, I was happy to find out that there are wireless doorbell cameras, several brands and prices. I chose carefully and decided to go with Kamep Smart Video Doorbell Camera. There are over 800 reviews posted on Amazon, pretty much all 5 stars. I could not believe how easy it was to install it and get it set up. Its absolutely all wireless, no electrical wires to deal with. This video camera ROCKS, first off it comes with a chime that you plug in, you can hear your doorbell clearly throughout the apartment, so now I have a doorbell, so exciting, also when someone rings the doorbell you also get a notification call on your phone, when you answer, you have a perfect clear view, and its very wide as well, not to mention a perfectly clear 2 way audio, this camera is so awesome, the night vision of this thing unbelievable. Overall I am extremely happy with my camera doorbell, I worried at first about how the image quality would be, but its just perfect and most important, I feel safe, if I hear something going on outside in the breezeway, I can access the video camera anytime and check it out. Thank you for making such a great product that is adapted to different needs of so many of us, wireless, easy installation and a great price.

I like it !
It's nice, for someone whom is always attempting to be frugal, and very much relies on the reviews for information. I always tell Myself l am going to do more to contribute, and not just things l dis/like. Being on a budget and finding this affordable, and it has most of the checks ✅ of the newer, more highly priced models. It was extremely easy to install, if l were to be picky it'd seem the "cradle" where the device is to sit in, which is very easy to put up, would better serve, if it had the extended top part, which l believe to help protect, and keep rain away, Was instead or also on the bottom, where then gravity could assist w the constant position of the device. I have a concern it will not be able for long term use w what seems like maybe a spring squeeze & hold type of keeping it in position. I am concerned that after a few of unintentional presses , maybe off of dead center button push, will more and more push it ,from the being squeezed position, and possibly fall off . Oh a part of this concern stems from that l misplaced the *star* security screw that tightly holds it into the "cradle". At the time thinking l have any old screw, but not one unfortunately w the unique star indention, for security purposes. All in all, all things considered, l am usually tuff on thing's, but l like this and would recommend, w an of course if You are balling, or at least have the capital to not have to take from something else, a surperior could be found.

Updating my previously submitted review... unfortunately it's past the return date Works! It's stopped working, won't reset, can't get the back off to recharge the batteries, can't do anything with it!!! Useless to me but while it worked although briefly was awesome but ultimately not worth anything just wish it had died within the return window Works identical to Ring but via wifi...I had another brand that died and this was the replacement a customer service agent assisted me in selecting. I love it works on my wifi and I don't have to add a monitoring system bill like Ring folk do. Sharp images and consistency in the notification of movement around my front. Also was a plus it comes with its own batteries and SD card installed!!! Easy setup too, there is an option to pay for cloud storage but I find that to be unnecessary since it automatically erase the SD card and keeps going as it fills especially if I just got regular motion with passers-by... I can email myself the video if needed if I had an occurrence and needed to save some video... great buy and awesome alternative for a piece of mind

So far, so good
Update: The battery appears to last for 3-4 months--then at 20% I kept getting a reminder that it was 'low' on power. Easy enough to remove and plug into a charger. Wish it was USB-C (who still uses micro-USB in 2021 anyway?). The lag time between the doorbell ring and when I receive a notification on my phone (either via WiFi or while I'm out), is starting to annoy me. Even though the lag is maybe 3 secs, it's enough time for the delivery person or other visitor to not wait around for an answer and walk away (granted, this is in NYC, and noone here has "time" to wait). Other than those little pet peeves, I still think it's a quality video doorbell and would recommend it. Original review: Easy to set up and install. Overall the unit seems well-constructed and sturdy. Video quality is good, though a bit laggy (maybe 1s—could be partly attributable to wi-fi, which can only connect over the 2.4ghz band). Also, this was installed in an apartment complex, and since there’s constant activity in the hallway throughout the day, I turned down the motion detection sensitivity. Very nice that the app includes a sliding scale for sensitivity. Another standout feature is the ability to store video and images on a micro SD card (32gb card already included in the box!), rather than being forced to subscribe to the online cloud service. Was kind of hoping this could connect to Alexa, but I knew this prior to purchase. For the price, this is still an exceptional value, especially when compared to the more popular brands in this segment. As far as reliability is concerned, I’m reserving judgment and will keep the last star up if everything continues to work well after a few months.

Works perfect until you have to update wifi
I'm having issues reconnecting my camera to wifi. It won't reset. I have requested a replacement twice as of December 2022. With no reply. I have purchased this camera for front and back doors. Works amazing! Clear picture Wifi reaches with zero lag in video call. My only complaint is that my wifi updated and now it will not connect to wifi. I can not reset it. I'm now stuck with 2 cameras that went from being amazing to useless because they won't reset. I don't think I will be purchasing again.

Great Product!
This door bell camera was very easy to setup and configure. It is made of strong material and very well made. As soon as the doorbell is activated, the built-in camera sends a very clear video or photo to the CloudEdge camera app as well as an auxiliary USB connected alert bell. It also has an infrared sensor that will alert the phone and send video if someone walks in front of the unit. Video clips are saved to a SD card or an available paid cloud account. The two-way intercom was very clear and has (3) pre-recorded messages that can be recorded for the visitors. The batteries are rechargeable and the battery life is stated to be 2-3 months. The unit can also be permanately powered by a low voltage source. The unit worked well at about 100 feet. The cost is substantially less than comparable units, and I highly recommend it.

Very pleased so far!
I have had this for a few days now and so far I am loving it. Just as good as more expensive name brands, in my opinion. The picture is wide and clear. The night vision is pretty good, too! I was a little hesitant about using the adhesive strips to mount this on my brick home, I didn't think they'd hold the doorbell and mount, but so far they seem to be strong enough, there's a little bit of a wiggle to it though so I might get some gorilla tape for some extra help, just to be safe. I got this set up fairly quickly by following the instructions. My only issue came when, a couple days after getting the doorbell, I got a new wifi router - there was no mention anywhere about how to modify the wifi network and password for the doorbell within the app, nothing in the app or instructions spoke to this. I ended up deleting the device in the app and re-adding it, and that worked, but found out later that I probably could have simply uninstalled the app and reset the doorbell and that would've been easier, but oh well- live and learn. Overall I'm super happy with my purchase!
