Wondering how long the legs are? Says 9.5ft tall, but I’m assuming that measures to the highest center point.

You would be correct. The sides are only 5 1/2 ft tall and I have to duck under them.

Does anyone know if canopies are legal in front yards for temporary spring/summer time use?

Totally depends on your homeowners stuff. Its pretty big but has kept up nice even in strong winds, although I will say we have to use stronger tie downs. Not easy to put up and take down if you want it for temporary use. More of a longer time "carport type canopy."

Would this canopy work to set up the poles at 9.5 across instead of 10? Or does it have to be stretched to 10? Thank you!

The poles are pre-cut, with special connectors on the ends. You cannot change the dimensions.
