Super quiet; Nice size; Stainless steel++; Cats drink more
We've had this cat fountain for almost 2 yrs and it's still working great. We have 2 cats, 1 with long hair. We tried several water bowls & fountains before this one. (1) Water pump is quietest I've ever found, on any product with a pump. I'm about 4 ft from it now and if I listen, I can (maybe) hear the water softly falling but zero pump noise. I'm sensitive to noise so I love this technical achievement! (2) It's a good size so we don't have to fill it as often. The perforated steel cover reduces evaporation too. We have a ceramic fountain of similar size that doesn't cover the water reservoir and we notice the difference in water loss to the air. (3) The water reservoir is deep, which means the pump stays covered in water longer and is therefore less likely to run dry, preventing unnecessary wear and tear. Our ceramic cat fountain is wider and shallower so we need to add water more frequently to keep the pump covered in water and the fountain operating. For this fountain, add water when you notice the water streams have narrowed. (4) Stainless steel is definitely better at minimizing bacteria, mold, and other germs. I was reluctant to switch from a plastic fountain mostly because of cost, but the price of this one is excellent! Even though we washed the old plastic one frequently with soap and water, one of our cats started to develop dark spots under her chin which was cat acne. It can be caused by bacteria on plastic water bowls, even if the water is being circulated. The acne occurred more frequently as the plastic fountain got older (perhaps its surface got more nicked with time and created tiny places where bacteria grew more easily?). We haven't had that issue with the stainless steel (or ceramic) fountains. (5) I think cat hair is an issue in all water bowls and fountains. This fountain does the best job of keeping water flowing! The water in a fountain we used to have would stop flowing because cat hair easily blocked the uptake holes. It's true that doing a full cleaning on this one takes a bit of time but it's worth it, and actually more convenient imo than having to wipe uptake holes every day or two. I took it all apart two nights ago, washed very piece with soap and water, even used an old toothbrush to clean the crevices on the underside of the flower piece and was done in 15 minutes or so, including reassembly. I admit not every wash is that complete but that's how long a deep clean took. It's really not bad, especially if my partner & I take turns. (6) Assembly: It may seem complicated but the multiple filters on this fountain are worth it! There are no screws or latches. As long as the pieces are in the right bottom-to-top order and pieces with notches are lined up, it all goes together with just a half-turn here and there. Suggestion: snap a couple pics as you take it apart so you'll feel more confident when putting it back together. (7) Our cats are like the cats in research studies: they drink more water more often when the water is moving than they do from bowls of still water, regardless of how fresh the water in the bowl is. (8) Bonus advice: Avoid moving the fountain when it's full of water. Place it where it belongs and then fill it. Pour out the current water before picking it up. ;-) It's also lighter that way.

Good Fountain
We have had 2 of these fountains for just shy of a year and they are both still working great! The stainless steel top part's rim very quickly started looking scratched or like something was peeling off. Neither is true though. I tried everything to get it clean, but nothing will. It does not effect the fountain's use however and the cat doesn't drink from that part, so I can only say that it's a con, if you want it to be perfect. The inside and outside of the bottom where the water is held and the flat part where the cat drinks is pristine and as shiny as the day we got it. When you are cleaning the motor, take the entire thing apart. The side where the little door opens is the side that pops off. I use a sharp knife to stick down in each side to pry it up a bit to pop it off. Then I use the circle end of the brush to hook the impeller the take it out and clean it good. The little brush fits into every single part of the motor and entire unit. If your brush doesn't fit into the motor, it isn't taken apart fully. Be sure to clean your fountain well. It gets slimy in the plastic parts especially and no one wants their cat drinking water that slime is! If you clean it and keep it full enough not to burn your motor out, this will be a decent fountain for you. I have had many cat fountains. This one is by far the easiest to clean and put back together quickly. Also, it isn't noisy unless you don't have the parts clicked in or tightened correctly or sometimes when the water gets low. That being said, check the water often. Ours has gotten low many times without any warning. All in all, it does what it's supposed to and our cats love it.

Updated review after less than year of use - Pump died and no response from seller
1/26/2022 - Update after less than a year of use. It's still a good fountain but the pump died. I understand that sometimes you just get a dud and I've been happy with the fountain otherwise. I reached out to the seller to inquire about a replacement pump since it has been under a year since I purchased it and haven't heard back from them. I'm hoping that my email was just accidentally missed and this get's seen. Original review - I really appreciate the VERY simple design, it's easy to clean/fill, very quiet, large reservoir for water, the fountain part is tall and there is not a far reach for my very senior kitty. She was having a hard time bending down, stretching, turning her head/neck awkwardly to drink from the last fountain I had. It is important to note that because the reservoir is enclosed and the top is like a strainer you will need to have a 2nd dish available that is open at the top. I found out the hard way when my power went out (just a simple breaker tripped) and the fountain was not running while I was not home. (not good for any cat but very bad for a senior with kidney disease and/or diabetes) Other than that it is a great product but I really wouldn't say it's a complaint cuz the benefits for my kitty outweigh having to put out a 2nd dish.

Great pump, great customer service
This is our second fountain purchased. The first pump lasted for years so when it died out we bought a second fountain along with a replacement pump so we'd have two units. 8 days past the return window, the pump in the new fountain died. I left a review saying such and simply bought another pump. Seller reached out to me of their own accord and offered a replacement pump. Great customer service and we are still pleased with the quality of the product.

Great fountain - be sure to clean the pump!
**First off, I just wanted to address a problem others seem to be having with the pump. I too thought the pump had just stopped working, but it actually just needs cleaning/rinsing out. The small wheel on the inside will not operate the pump if thereโs a build up of fur or mildew/something else in there, so remove it carefully and give a strong rinse around the pump. Once I did this the pump immediately started working again.** I love this fountain, and so do my cats. What impressed me is how quiet it is. Itโs not noticeable, compared to other fountains weโve used. As the water level drops to almost empty, it will start to make a churning noise, so it gives you notice to refill it. Try to refill immediately so you donโt ruin the pump. I noticed when cleaning it, thereโs no build up of any mildew in the main part of the fountain, due to it being stainless steel, which is great. It is a pain to take it all apart for cleaning though. I usually drop the power cord down my top to avoid it getting wet. The foam that wraps around the pump gets a build up of fur each time. I find itโs best to rinse it under the tap and pull away the fur with your fingers as the fur really gets caught in it. I appreciate the long cord, but since I put it up against a wall I find myself having to tie the cord because of the length. As I said, my cats love it. The blue light is also nice touch. Itโs subtle and not overpowering at night. Fountains always encourage cats to drink more. I find myself refilling this more often. Would definitely recommend this!

DONT BUY THIS!!!!
At the beginning it was a dream: the price, stainless steel, I live in a high calcium water area and that gave my cat urinary problems. When I saw him drinking water from the fountain like crazy I was so happy he liked it. It is quiet, yes. Easy to clean, yes, even with the cord in the middle of the way. But a few days after use, I realized the flower in the middle was on the way causee he kept trying to move it, and in the process, cat started lifting the top lid. He removes it completly. I removed the flower and I had to use a clamp to hold the lid in its place. Now he drinks without the flower in his troath and without being able to lift the lid. But the final thing was one morning, I dont know why, but some cats "scratch" the water before drinking, and his nail got stuck in one of the holes,. He started crying cause the whole thing flipped with his nail stucked there cause it doesnt even have a rubber piece or something to hold it in place. Is lucky I was home so I helped him. After just 3 weeks of using it, I finally had to go back to the water bowl, cause he is traumatized by it, so he doesnt want to use it anymore, so Ill use it just to filter the water a little bit, until I find, not only a stainless steel one; but a safe one too, something that doesn't allow the cat to diasseblme each piece. :( Update (march 16th): I went back to use it cause the cat wasnt using the bowl, but oe ot turns off at least twice a day so it makes no sense. Is bad quality as I can see for everything that happened. Dont buy this!!!

Well designed!
Our cat loves it & I have yet to find anything I donโt like! I would like to see them develop a reservoir system so I could make a lot of water available on an as needed basis. Otherwise itโs perfect. We went through SO many Drinkwell fountains until I found this beauty! Itโs exactly what I was looking for. Easy to clean & sturdy stainless steel. Holds a fair amount of water, yet itโs a small enough size for our space. Doesnโt splash all over, & there are water flow options! You can see the damage to my wood moldings from the last one we had in the picture. Very few plastic parts here, & Iโm glad of it! I got very tired of the plastic cracking, & all the hard to disassemble & reassemble parts that needed cleaning in the Drinkwell brand pet fountains & their only stainless steel option was HUGE! This fountain is so simple, & it came with a brush for cleaning! Even the cord to the fully submersible pump is easily unattached for cleaning, & itโs a decent length too giving you more flexibility if your outlet isnโt as close as youโd like. Weโve only had this a short time so I canโt speak to the pumpโs longevity, but it is so quiet. The light is such a great bonus! My cat & I can easily see it at night without overwhelming brightness. Iโm seriously impressed with this product. I did a lot of looking for a long time before I found this fountain, & I do not regret it. Worth the wait.

Pros and Cons
There's some significant good and bad here, first off the plug wire runs into the basin itself, and you have to remove the pump, and some plastic pieces in order to fully clean the unit. This is more than a bit of a pain, and the plastic bits that hold the cord in place are fragile and don't remove easily, making me fear they'll be easily broken. The plug itself is also an awkward, oversized USB charger/wall wart that feels a lot more obtrusive than necessary for something like this. The USB-into-wall-plug setup also makes it too easy for cats to dislodge. The other big downside is that the filter is a plastic plate that is already discolored (started clear, turned white) after just two weeks of use. One of the reasons I bought this was the sanitary quality of stainless steel over a plastic fountain, so disappointing that it isn't all stainless. (The flower spout on top is also plastic, but I knew that from pictures going in.) Also struggling to find a source for the replacement filters themselves, which is worrisome. When I first put this in, it was much, much louder than the cat fountain it replaced and I was actually planning to return it and then, for whatever reason, it stopped being loud (I did nothing) and has worked quite quietly ever since. Weird. The good is that it is now quiet, that the cats like it, and that most of it is stainless steel. Unlike a lot of other fountains there's not much of a water well, which is fine for my cats who like to drink as it drips, but if yours is a lapper, this could be an issue.

Amazing quality and def recommend !
Absolutely love it.. itโs great quality and you hardly hear it. Iโm glad I found a fountain that mostly stainless steel to deter bacteria. You can throw it in the dish washer. The pump comes apart for cleaning. There was one review that has some outrages stuff growing out of it but they did NOT clean it properly. Iโve had this for about a year and half and still works great. I like that it has different options for the fountain, you can take the flower out and just have a bubble fountain. (My cat is scared of the flower) but he loves it. I also like how there is a thin blue light ring around the top. Perfect fountain and def recommend !

My cat gives it 4 stars
Neat little machine, works great so far, extremely quiet, in fact all you hear is the gurgling of the water. For some reason the underside of the bowl gets wet and has to be dried at least once a day. I placed a towel underneath it to keep the floor dry. There is no leak. It seems to be condensation or my cat is aggressive. Either way, I would buy it again.
