Razer RZ09-01652E21-R3U1 The Blade (2016) 14" QHD+ Gaming Laptop (6th Generation Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, GTX 970M 6GB)

I give it 1 star because of how disappointed I'm but I might deserve 3.5-4 stars based upon price, the screen resolution which doesn't meet expectations and that it's a finger print magnet. So after 2 days of use I started having problems with the Bluetooth connection, as an engineer who knows his ways around computers and phones I don't know if I was more upset about the fact that it took me a whole day to fix it or the fact that the Bluetooth settings randomly dissappeared (read the other comments and you will see that this happens frequently). After that... I had problems with the track pad and with the keyboard. Some letters like 'kcdx' were not responding. I contacted Razer support and to my surprise they responded really quickly (same day) and I was able to basically have a full conversation with Alex (who assisted me) like if we were on a chat. He provided me with a couple of options, which I already tried and didn't worked, and afterwards was kind enough to open a return case for me and they offer to give me "an exchange if it was necessary" and they were going to pay to the shipping and everything. But I opted for a refund with Amazon because I wasn't sure if Razer was actually going to give me a new one or how long it was going to take for them to decide for an exchange... That's why I give it 1 star. But before it started malfuncting it was behaving like a beast. Pros: 1. Lightning fast, the thing was just Flash like fast. Very responsive and I was able to have 10 different programs at the same time and it was able to open Matlab, minitab, R and obviously Excel in literally a second or two. Very impressed, but again it does cost $2k. 2. The look: it's really really attractive. That black everything it's gorgeous and the feel of it it's great. 3. The chroma features: not only the keyboard, but I bought the mouse, the Razer pad for the mouse... Everything at the same time looked amazing(check the photos). The colors make everything very appealing. 3. Audio: it's good and loud enough but not the best either. 4. Battery: better than what people say in the other comments. About 6-6.5 hours using it under work related conditions. Cons: 1. The screen: to me this is the biggest and basically the only turn off about the computer, as in if I knew I think would not buy it. The colors wasn't as crispy and clear as other, even cheaper, laptops and the contrast didn't do it for me either. 2. Finger print magnet: I had to buy skins at dbrand for it since I was getting annoyed of how my hands would get printed on the laptop. Conclusion: great machine! Would I buy it again? NO, based upon the screen and the constant Bluetooth problems. Would I kept it if I didn't had the track pad and keyboard problems? Yes, the thing was just fast, I don't play games much but I do work about 10-12 hours a day and many of the programs that I used are a bit heavy for a $1200 laptop and I ALWAYS have at least 8-12 programs open at the same time and it was performing like if I was using 0% of the ram. And with the skins the finger print were no longer a problem. Should you buy it? No, I think you should at least wait a couple of months until the new Dell's xps15* and Apple's MacBook pro comes out, that is if you have and want and need to expend $2k and more on ultrabook with gaming abilities (not sure if you will be able to play games with the MBP though). And Btw I know that a MBP isn't considered ultrabook much less a gaming laptop.

I received the laptop today and was so excited because of its specs to only be very disappointed with the panel it comes with. It seems very fast but it is unbelievable that for this amount of money, the panel has a lot of texturing/cloudiness when viewing whites and greys in it probably due to the touch screen. I ordered an Asus Zenbook Pro UX501 weeks ago and returned it for the same reason. I ordered an Asus Zenbook UX303ub from Amazon and it came from Upgrade Kings that has 20Gb of ram, a 512Gb ssd and 2Gb graphics card. The processor in the Zenbook is only a dual core and the graphics card in it is nowhere near the performance of the 970m that comes in the Razer, but value wise, the Zenbook beats it hands down. The Zenbook is opening applications faster than the Razer which isn't that important but that shouldn't happen either. And what amazes me is for so much less money, the panel on the Zenbook is way better than the Razer which is why I am holding on to the Zenbook. What a deal breaker...Razer needs to get their act together and upgrade their panels as I have read they are a couple of years old now. I am sending it back tomorrow and waiting for the Macbook Pro to come out in the fall because I can count on them to have an incredible panel....my 15" 2015 Macbook pro with lower screen resolution was much better than the one that comes in the Razer and spent close to the amount of money on my MBP that I did on the Razer. Nobody makes panels as well as Apple..not even Dell. I just don't get what the big deal is with the Razer now and will probably never consider one again.

Pros: Gaming prowess, beautiful screen, build quality, stylish Cons: Not my favorite keyboard, miss the 10 key, does get hot, FINGERPRINTS! I've loved almost every minute with my Blade so far. I own a desktop with an SSD boot drive and was still impressed with how quickly the Blade boots. No bloatware you get from other manufacturers. It runs BF4 and many other games very well at high quality levels. Frame rate isn't quite playable at the screen's native resolution so I drop it down to play but still impressive performance from a laptop, much less one so small. Speaking of the screen it's gorgeous. As bright as you could ever reasonably want it to be. I use it well below full brightness in most conditions. Other likes here are the stylish design and the overall build quality. Design hints to the power beneath but in a very understated way that I appreciate. Build quality is fantastic. It just feels rock solid in your hands. My tower has more flex than the Blade. Finally there's just something awesome about picking it up when it hasn't been on and feeling the cool metal on your fingertips. Yes. I like. For the dislikes... I'm admittedly getting a bit picky here. As you can see from my overall score I don't have many complaints but here are some small ones. The keyboard is raved about in many reviews but for me it's merely ehh. For gaming, not one problem with it. Where I ran into issues is in typing. I use it for some work from home in addition to gaming (how I justified the purchase to the Mrs.) and it just seems to struggle to register every keystroke. With time I may adapt to it and have more success but so far it's been a challenging keyboard for me. I also miss the 10 key more than I thought I would. Again this more for the work use than the gaming use. Powering through spreadsheets is a bit annoying without it so I purchased a wireless 10 key for work use. It does get pretty hot under gaming loads but the design pretty efficiently routes the heat away from your hands so you don't feel it too badly unless you have it on your lap. I recommend gaming on a desk or table if you plan on procreating. My final nitpick is fingerprints. I heard this in some early reviews and thought what you probably are: "how oily and nasty are these people?" Turns out they were likely no more oily and nasty than I. This isn't about the screen. I loathe touch screens and do not use that feature on the Razer. This is about the aluminum case. It attracts fingerprints and smears like my white dress shirts attract spaghetti sauce stains. I find myself consistently trying to wipe away prints with a lens cleaning cloth so society doesn't quarantine me. The price was painful and I considered many others before taking the plunge. Many laptops game as well as the Blade. Many laptops are as small as the Blade. Many laptops are as stylish as the Blade. You see where this is going right? From my research and examination of alternatives, the Blade had the most satisfying combination of all of these factors and more. I don't regret my purchase for a moment.

I don't understand .... this is supposed to be a significant bump from last year's version. Still the same and Bluetooth hard to connect my speaker devices. Takes time to load the games I play and my 4 year old alienware has better internet connection stability. I am a bit disappointed. However, if you plan to get your first gaming laptop that is ultra portable, I would say this is the best option in the market right now.

I don't believe any review on here is 100% authentic even as a verified purchase if it's anything lower than three stars. I honestly don't think the laptop in working condition could score anything lower than four stars. Yeah people riding couple Conn's you know stuff that if you know anything about computers indicates a Windows 10 problem if anything and not actually the quality of the Razer Blade. So yeah we all know Windows 10 has a lot of problems and they can be worse depending on the computer it's just bad luck. But an Asus Zenbook shouldn't even be spoken about anywhere near a Razor Blade. Yeah so Nicky doodles gives you the same hamburger every time same Frys same quality it's good but you can't compare it to a fine-dining Steakhouse you just can't. The Razer Blade is basically Microsoft version of a MacBook Pro. And you could pick both computers apart and nitpick but in a nutshell that is hands-down the best comparison. Now with that being said I'm not saying the Razer Blade is 100% perfect to everyone I mean let's use an example or two. The fans are too noisy I can hear them from 10 miles away-2 Stars. This is absolutely ridiculous. If you see this in a review you know that this person is clueless. There is no way you're going to get a 970m 6 GB with a core i7 and 16 gigabytes of RAM and not have to have some fan noise moving Away from these components. And sure it can sound different depending on the size this computer is very sleek and slim which normally you won't find a video card this good but when you do it's going to have some fans and they're going to make some noise but you can always buy a tablet or a cheaper laptop that doesn't have a good video card that's not a slim or sleek and enjoy the silence which is overrated I don't get it but I don't have to. Just don't lie to people and complain about the fans being too loud when there's no other way they could be with this setup. The good news is if you want the best of both worlds if you want a laptop that can play some games and can perform and you can sacrifice a little bit of Silence for that then the Razer has that for you. If you also want to have silent day where you can hear a pin drop downstairs across the hallway razor has that for you also it's called don't play a video game and the fans won't make any noise to offend your precious ears. So yes the Razer Blade just have Library mode and anybody that's taking away Stars for the fans is just not telling the truth. Which brings me to my second point some people are complaining about the battery life you know here we go again if you want a lot of battery life you're not going to be playing a computer game. You just can't go slim , sleek, powerful ,and not use some juice . If you want to get 6 to 8 hours of battery from it good luck going into power saving settings turning everything off. To each his own but you could have bought a tablet. If you see one of these things and the store go check it out if you actually put your hands on one of these and you're not on the internet looking for attention you will appreciate this "Microsoft , Mac Book Pro" for what it is and it's beautiful. I use mine every day 8 plus hours a day yes my oily fingers leave spots on it that I have to wipe off but that's the trade I made to have the the metallic finish that is just great looking. If you need something unremarkable ,silent,with tablet performance, and 12 hours of battery then don't by a ultra thin, metallic finish, gaming machine. Certainly don't get one of these not being aware of a few components ,basic operation, and light common sense. If you buy a Lamborghini yes it's expensive but you cannot put Wings on it and fly. Even though it has more expensive components focused around speed does it mean it's going to get better gas mileage than a Toyota Camry. It's more expensive then your neighbor's minivan but you just can't put as many people in it it's just not made for that. Are people that buy Lamborghinis that much more intelligent then your average laptop buyer....whoa... mind explosion I promise you won't go on the Lamborghini forums and have somebody comparing it to a station wagon or an El Camino. But yet you'll have people on here complaining about a gaming laptop with fan noise and Heat........ I don't think I need to say anymore

For Amazon : rate 0. On June 23 I order this product and there is a promotion code for 3 free game in the product page and amazon remove now. So right after I place the order, I talk with one of the representative and they said that they will give me a link to download that game". However, I never received the link and I try contacting them for multiple times for live chat and they refused to give me the promotion and left the live chat rudely because they cannot resolve my issue and I cannot rate that representative as 0 because the agent set something in advance to prevent me from rating her. For the laptop: rate 2 Since this is a 2000+ laptop, I have a high expectation on this. I also owned a MacBook pro and I think the MacBook pro has a way better quality. For the hinge, the MacBook pro used the metal and the razer blade use a plastic hinge and you can hear the buzzling sound of the hinge (the contact between the hinge and the screen) when you open the laptop. For the screen, even though this is a 3200x1800 resolution, but it seems less clear than the MacBook pro's 2560x1600 screen, probably because of the touch functionality of the screen. For the speaker, the speaker is totally a disaster and MacBook pro has a better sound even though it is thinner and thicker than the razer blade. What is more, the laptop is not balanced which means that it is not stable when I place the laptop in the desk. In general, it is a ok desktop but it is a disaster if I paid 2000+ dollars. What is more, the amazon customer service is a nightmare because the agent can prevent you from rating them if they know you will give them a low rating. The most importantly, amazon does not give me the promotion which they promise to do. I am considering returning it in couple days.

I was a happy Razer customer for a year or two with my Razer 14 laptop and Lancehead mouse. About two years ago, I noticed by trackpad bulging. I was concerned about this and called Razer support, who told me that my 1 year warrantee means they won't be able to fix it for free. I told them I wasn't going to pay $100-300 for a problem that's not typical and not my fault. They told me it may be possible for them to cover it, I just need serial number, proof of purchase etc. So I went through my emails, and even had some emails with razer support from 2016 when they were late on the release date that I pre-ordered for. I guess since I may have checked out as a guest, I never got emailed a proper receipt (it seems like this has happened to others if you google it)? Regardless they were not able to look at it for free and my ticket dissolved. This year, the bulge had gotten so bad that my trackpad finally cracked, see pics. I thought, okay this is enough. Even though the trackpad works and I don't really use it, this is unsightly and likely dangerous. I can't imagine a company would release a product that this could even be a possibility, less than 4 years of using it. I called again, and went through the same circle of needing proof of purchase. I swear I bought it from the Razer store website. It should be in their system. I hung up and vowed to find a proof of purchase to email to the ticket, but could not. I was extremely busy this past summer, with buying a house for the first time. This morning I was testing my new ethernet cable I had routed up through the house, and had my laptop on to check the connection. Suddenly, it turned off. It wouldn't turn back on. The adaptor had the light on, was fully connected, and last I checked the laptop had full battery. Plugged or unplugged, it wouldn't turn back on. Tried this multiple times. Today I will call again and finally fork over a couple hundred bucks and weeks without a laptop.

Unfortunately Razer decided to use Killer wireless cards in these laptops. Killer wireless has never been great, its all hype and in this case the model of card they choose from Killer losses Bluetooth constantly (A quick internet search shows that many other laptop brands also suffer from this with this card). And when I say losses Bluetooth I don't mean it just disconnects and reconnects. It completely disappears as if it was never installed...not even an event in the event log showing a driver crash. The Bluetooth options in the Windows task bar completely disappear, device manager doesn't even show Bluetooth and all Bluetooth options in Windows control panel disappear as if its not even installed. The only way to get it to come back online is to reboot anywhere from 3-5 times....I have also looked on the Razer support forums and see that many others are experiencing this same issue. I have contacted Razer support for the issue and they instructed me to restore the machine to factory defaults....OK, why not? Maybe its just something I installed that messed it up....Nope. After the restore without installing anything else I tested and it stops after about 20 minutes of use. I also have tested it after running all Windows updates...running all Razer updates....downloading and installing just the Killer drivers, and upgrading to Windows 10 Pro. In all cases it still disappears. I'm also very disappointed that Razer just wants me to send the laptop in to have them look at it and expected time is 2 weeks to "fix". The problem with this is I just spent $2k on a laptop only to pull it out of the box and it's not working the way its supposed too. If this was a $600 Dell and I had an issue I could understand but its not, for the money the laptop needs to just work. And since it doesn't the laptop should just be replaced by Razer vs. me waiting around for them to fix my brand new laptop. Like an other consumer if I bought this in the store and got it home Id take it back and get it replaced. Razer insists you don't return it to the place of purchase but send it in....I'm just returning it to Amazon and exploring different options. I really wanted to like this laptop as Ive owned their last 2 models and they have been flawless! They should have just stuck with the Intel wifi/bluetooth combo that most manufacturers use, as they did before.
