It holds a charge. It just takes a long time to charge up from a small 10ma solar cell. IT charged up to 2.7v off of the large solar cell in a few hours. But I did use an old NiMh cell to get it started. IT works well enough for a small red led I had. I tried it in a radio after charging up on some batteries. It ran it for several minutes. Other than that I found that it was plastic coated over the aluminum can. So I can't say if this really works well for 3 plate capacitor experiments as I do not know if the positive is grounded to the can, But it may be great for joule thief circuits and some solar energy experiments. The capacitor can do a quick discharge but can soak up lots of power from a battery source. In fact it pulled out so much power from the batteries they got warm. But with my solar charger I had about a 3v solar panel, 40-50ma under load using a small blocking diode. I watched the voltage slowly climb up to 2.7 while the sun was out today.

I tested the bleed Current and voltage after 24 Hours
I bought 13 of these I tested the bleed Current after charging at 2.7V for 1/2 hour and got an average of 2.0ma to 3.0ma. Some sellers are claiming like 0.05ma which is way off.. After 24 hours the voltage of the capacitors were about 2.35V to 2.41V. I did not test the internal series resistance. The Capacity of 100F was consistent with all the ones I bought. However I was disappointed with the bleed current being so high.

Works as intended but you might receive different item than in photograph from amazon.
Its okay but the photograph of the item is different than what I received Mine is a brand called "samwha-greencap" or something along those lines Its still the correct value and voltage but that should be updated the photo from amazon It works and checks out approximately correct. charges fast and holds power. A few bits of grubbyness and a few tiny dents and nicks but doesnt affect performance or operation. Not very visible at first glance.
