How can you clean chunkies from fabric/carpet?

I was able to remove this from a white twill upholstered chair with just a wet paper towel. (Yep, I'm that person with a white rocker in a kid's room.)

Got this as a gift last Christmas. And two out of the bunch now have mold on the paint stick colors. Anyone else have this issue?
