Crescent Nicholson Nicholson 5 Piece General Purpose Hand File Set - 22040NN

Nicholsons are really good files at a Home Depot price. Can't say how well they do over the long haul because I don't work metal all day long. Mostly I use these to sharpen tools and do simple tasks.

This is the only set I found that had all the files I wanted. The 10" half round is very coarse, flat on one side and rounded on the other. There are two mill bastard files, one 10" and one 8". There is also an 8" mill smooth file. There is a little triangle shaped file also. They come in a decent plastic pouch case that is labeled with what they are and has holes to hang it up.These files are very high quality and the manufacturing is top notch. They have what the file is etched on the file.Made in Mexico.

NOT made in America! We will have to wait and see how they hold up. Made in Mexico and Brazil. I have some of the older made in America Nicholson files, well used and still good.

Shipped quickly, good value. Using thes files I was able to reshape a badly blunted and deformed Delaware (I think) single bit (felling axe) butt. Easily removed burrs and flairs from the surface.

Expensive., better than the discount stores, but not what my grandfather purchased. Bring clear expectations to your purchase decisions. If your going to use them a handful of times, buy the cheaper versions at Walmart. If your going to use them 40 times in your life, buy these. If your going to use them daily, save up and purchase the German or Swiss high quality versions.

No problems at all. Came well oiled and very sharp.

you know one of the great things about the files and made in America and they've been making them for over 50 years and they are now even better than they were when they started and that's an accomplishment I have six of them that I've had over 40 years there's good now as they were when I got them .I was a millwright for 40 years and retired as such and I'll tell you they can't get any better than this .
