Inexpensive insurance.
Only a surge will tell, but so far so good, well made and fit perfectly. Had a lightning strike come in through tv cable took out tv, modem, cable bix, router. I had surge protected wall outlets but not the coax cable.

No more TV repaurs
We had several instances of lightening coming through our HDMI ports. This has helped a lot to stop that

Looks like it works to me.
My four-week old computer just lost its display port video because of a nearby lightning strike. Where I live, you can expect a t-storm almost every summer afternoon. Because I still have a working HDMI port, I found a cable and hooked it to my monitor. My computer lives! ...for now. I'm worried about another strike taking out my only remaining video port. So I start searching around for solutions and I come across this. It's cheap enough, so I buy it and plug it into my computer before the HDMI cable to the monitor. Cross your fingers..... About a week later, my screen goes blank and I hear thunder. It stays blank. With a bit of trepidation, I crawl under the desk, remove this device and plug the cable back into the computer. My screen comes back! Great, but this gizmo is dead. It's not smoking or anything, but video signals aren't passing through it. So..... I have to buy another one? After a week? Maybe I should buy a dozen...... I decide to ponder the situation a bit and start looking for another solution. A couple of days later, I see this once-useful thing sitting on my desk and decide to toss it out. Before I toss it, I put it back on the cable....and I still have video! Did this gizmo need to cool off or something? Does it reset itself? I'm not sure, but for now, it's going to stay on that cable. In the meantime, I'm going to put a big, galvanized piece of sheet metal against the wall behind my desk - it's in the garage doing nothing, anyway....

It really works!
Iโm in an area where we suffer significant lightning strikes. Have lost an HDMI cable 3 times where the surge was conducted into my receiver and projector. Purchased this and experienced another strike. HDMI cable fried but the receiver and projector were fine! It did kill the surge protector as well but the expensive equipment was protected!

Works with OLED Nintendo Switch and AOC HDMI 1.4 monitor with Chinese "Overdrive" and "HDR Mode"
Seems to be working great with oled nintendo switch dock and cat6a cables and gaming monitor. Is probably necessary. :)
