why does tyhis stuff look , smell, and act just like henna? i see no difference in this product than in henna. is something wrong with mine?

Henna is warm brown towards red in color. Indigo is very dark brown towards black in color. ain't very much depends on what color and texture hair you are putting this on. Also how long you let it sit on the hair. Hope this is helpful.

What do I need to buy to get jet black?

Applying indigo henna on its own will not give you a black color. You need to buy natural henna powder and apply it first for 2/3 hours then rinse out. You will get and ´orangy hue'. Then apply the indigo for 2 hours or more to get a good black color.

It contains 1 package of Indigo powder only. You have to buy the Henna separately.

is there a way at all to have it come out more blue than black? and this be used on the skin as well?

Real indigo is always blue, like the indigo in your blue jeans. This indigo has turned my plastic utensils blue, but it starts as a green mix. It is important to let it sit for about 15 minutes after you mix the powder with water to let the color come out. Never used it on the skin, so can't attest to that.
