Pointless item - not needed as Z1 comes with soft cover
I bought this as it's supposed to be a useful cover for the Z1 but it's really pointless. It touches the lens (the soft cover does too, but works better) and is visible in the photo if slid up and left in place. So it's a pointless piece of plastic that you really don't need.

Doesn’t touch the lenses
It obviously should just be packaged with the $1000 camera but it isn’t. Anyway, it’s a required accessory. The cap has spacing around the lenses to prevent contact with the glass. Use one thumb to push up one side to slide it easily off the camera.

Very tight fit!
Be careful with this product. It's a very tight fit. You have to push quite hard over the lens to make it fit. The lightest particle of dust or grit that find It's way onto the actual lens cover could damage the lens for ever. Not a good design. I would buy one of the cheaper rubber coverings that are for sale which can easily be checked before placing over the lens.

Fits
It covers the lenses and hopefully would protect it in a drop but with any luck I'll never have to test it.

Works with a catch
The catch: the lens is not completely covered, so dust, rain, etc can still get to the lens. However, it does protect from falls.
