I’m about 165-170 lbs... waist is 36 will the xl be a suitable size?

I would do a large. You got to season your waist trainer. I’m 153 pounds waist is 33 I got the Medium. I’m almost fully closed. My waist is now 29. Google waist training seasoning chart. Tells you how many hours a day to use your waist trainer. Make sure you are parallel when you lace up. Also when you wear your trainer you also loss weight, from wearing the trainer. I'm 5"2, and its a bit long for me. It's literally right there over my butt crack (sorry for that extra detail, but it's worth mentioning because it makes it hard to use the bathroon). Next time, I'll definitely look for one that's a few inches shorter
