These are great skates for the young beginner figure skater. My son is six years-old and taking beginning ice skating classes at our local ice rink. When he put these on he said they felt so much better than the rentals at the ice rink. I noticed his skating improved immediately as he was standing more straight over the blades in them and gliding easier. He is currently a Size 1 in shoes, but I ordered him these skates in Size 2 so he would have some room to grow and keep them for a while. They lace up good and tight around his ankles and he stands up over the blades nice and straight. He loves them, and it makes him feel like one of the older boys who also have their own black figure skates. I had them sharpened before he used them, as it said on the side of the box to sharpen before first use. So I did, assuming they needed it. Great price for decent little skates, and they will pay themselves off in no time at all by not having to pay for the skate rentals at the rink! Plus they are his own skates to get used to and feel very comfortable in as he improves his skills.

Bought this for my son as first time skater. I should read other’s review first. They’re there’s not much support on the ankle.
