Review: This book makes the art of putting very simple if followed and allows those of us who do not take it as a game within a game see the importance of improvement. Well set out and looks at the critical things that will impact this part of golf. You will not not miss out by reading this book from a respected coach and past champion. Review: I quite enjoyed it. Although it offers very little technical advice the concepts are commonsensical and bring you back to earth. Golf is a game and overthinking what should come naturally only messes you up. A great perspective. But it and enjoy the read.

The book is basically free of the mechanics of the putting stroke. Emphasizes seeing the line & your pre- putt routine. Dave has identified that what you need is a setup & stroke that suites me. My putting has improved since reading and working on reading the line, setup & stroke. Last two rounds no three putts. Thank you Dave

I play once a week, sometimes twice. I don’t always think that my touch or feel is where it should be. Sometimes it is caused by over thinking and letting my brain get in the way. I was able to pick up several ideas and concepts that have improved my putting confidence. Easy to read in a day or so. Could certainly help anyone on the green to feel better about their game.

I read an extract from the book in a copy of Golf Digest (I’m in the UK but just happened to pick up a copy!). I hadn’t been putting well and thought I’d give it a go. I gave the system 9 months and I have to say my putting got worse – sorry Dave! There may be some reasons – to work properly you need a putter with loft on it because one of the things is a forward press then keeping the hands ahead of the ball. I didn’t change my putter!! No practice swing, breaking the wrists on the way back I found difficult, and picturing a spot an inch in front of the ball didn’t work for me either. There were good things – approaching the putts, reading the greens, but overall since I have gone back to my old style and improved back to my old stats, which, whilst not great, are better than Dave’s method stats! I’m sure it’ll work for some – after all he is one of the gurus – but not for me. Never the less it’s a good book, hence the 4 stars.
