Enya NOVA U MINI 21-Inch Carbon Fiber Soprano Travel Ukulele, Blue

It has been the biggest surprise that many people have found love with the Enya Concert Travel Ukulele a.k.a. the Nova U, a carbon fiber ukulele. For one, where many travel ukulele are soprano, Enya released a travel ukulele available in numerous colors but also, extra swag, gig bag and a marketing campaign which has many of the top ukulele YouTubers showcasing it on their channel. Now, as one who is learning to play ukulele, the idea of a travel concert ukulele is quite exciting. So, let’s begin with talking about Enya, the first thing one may see is the logo and its similarities to the singer enya. The type-face is totally different and there is no relation to the singer. Enya is based in China and while many ukulele’s from major brands are made in China, and known as Enya music, unlike other Chinese brands, this company is about quality, affordability and also making sure those who are wanting to learn the ukulele, you get treated with a lot of cool swag and a gig bag but most importantly, the company is known for listening to its customers and improving their product. The company includes with the travel uke and gig bag, a strap, a capo and backup fluorocarbon strings. A tuner is not included. And I know some people may look at the front and think this ukulele will be difficult to tune because of the Enya logo on the front. But this is not the case, because there is a sound hole, but it’s located on the side of the body. The version I got was black is made of 30% carbon fiber & polycarbonate. The finish is Satin but I will have to say, and it’s something I expected before I ordered this (that’s why I went back and forth of going black or white), but I love black too much and it’s a travel guitar, I expect to get fingerprints on this travel uke. The size is 23″ concert, which is the next step up in size after a soprano and before a tenor. The strings are Enya Fluorocarbon. I absolutely love the gold tuners on black. Oh, and it’s important to emphasize that these tuners kept their tune and probably had to adjust the tuners every half hour or so, as opposed to several minutes like some inexpensive ukes from China. One thing you’ll notice with those playing black Enya Concert Travel Ukulele Nova U – 23’’ Carbon Fiber are the fingerprints. So, if you can’t stand to see fingerprints, black may not be for you. And as I was playing the Enya Concert Travel Ukulele Nova U – 23’’ Carbon Fiber, I was impressed with it. Not just with the sound, how it retained its tuned sound, but also overall presentation from Enya and what it comes with. It’s actually quite awesome and while the sound is different from a wooden ukulele, not by a whole lot. The Nova U sounds absolutely awesome! In fact, you can see a few cool YouTubers performing with it: It’s important to note that Enya also offers a pickup, a DOUBLE AcousticPlus which is about double the price for those who want an electric version of this travel concert ukulele. Note: An Enya Concert Ukulele Nova U is under $90 US. So, for the most part, this is an awesome travel uke! I absolutely love it! But there would be a few things that would have made it perfect… Colored Frets – The Nova U needs colored frets, not all black. You can feel it, but you can’t really see them unless you are in the light. Fret Dots – For beginners, having fret dots on the side for beginners. Great to see Fret Markers on the Fret Board, but this would be popular for schools because the uke is durable, but if it had the fret dots, I can see these being purchased by music teachers for their classes. Tuner – Enya offers a tuner for many of their products, but not the Nova U. In fact, I think the set would benefit with the tuner more than the capo itself. But overall, this is an fantastic travel concert ukulele from Enya. If you are in the market for a travel ukulele or a uke to keep in the car or to play at home, definitely give the Enya Concert Ukulele Nova U 23’’ Carbon Fiber Travel Ukulele a try!

Hello. Long time Scouter and here. In 2023 I was a part of a crew that headed down to Florida Seabase and we spent several days on Big Munson Island. While prepping for the trek, my wife shared a link with me to this Ukulele. I love music. Several of my crew members love music. I won't pretend to be the best at playing the Uke, but I like music and I can hold my own. This uke is tough! While we canoed to Big Munson island it sat at my feet and I barely noticed it. Every morning after waking up, I would walk out to the picnic table I left it on, upend it, and dump out any rain water that had collected in it. It held its tune fairly well and the tuners continued to function throughout the adventure. The only noticeable wear on it is the corrosion around the tuning pegs due to the exposure to sea water. It still tunes though. At the end of the adventure is when it got it's first branding. A tradition at scout camps is branding of images or initials to signify the completion of the adventure. The Carbon Fiber body is fairly resilient and has stood up to many such brandings without changing tone quality or getting in the way of strumming. Over the next year, I became known in the scout community as "that guy with the ukulele". It went with me on monthly camping trips, summer camp, training weekends, and even a 18 mile camping hike in Savage Gulf Tennessee. I just strapped it to the hiking backpack and didn't even notice the weight change. During all that time it accidentally banged up against trees, picnic tables, and whatever else my clumsiness may have had it collide with. This past week my wife and I took 9 other individual scouts on a trip to Northern Tier Atikokan and completed 50+ miles of canoeing and camping in the Canadian Crown lands. Just like with Sea Base, the uke found its way into the canoe and rode with me wherever I went. During portages, I rigged a carabiner to it so it could hang from my life jacket while I carried my share of the load over the trails. It still tunes. It still sounds great. It is always fun to see scouts, counselors, or other passersby on the trails light up when they see the uke out. I guess I can't say enough good things about this. Thank you for making a quality product.

**2 month update** Been playing this little guy non stop the last two months. Yes, you do need to re tune even after breaking in the strings.. But it's a ukulele using basically fishing line for string. You're going to HAVE to re tune it. This is normal. At least with the dadario titanium strings. I haven't experimented with other types of strings. But I do know other folks that play Ukes, I'm told even with a $1000 uke, you'll be tuning it every time you pick it up. Nature of the beast. As far as the sound quality? Outstanding. I went to guitar center and played other ukuleles. Higher and lower dollar marks. Still would go with this one. And it looks badass. Sound is vibrant and projects very well. Wouldn't change anything. Still 5 stars. The case is great! Time for a review on this one... Ignore everyone complaining about not staying in tune. These are not metal wound guitar strings, you're going to have to check tune.. especially in the string stretch phase. Aside from that, this uke is absolutely perfect. The sound is outstanding, the action is low. Very much perfect. Grab the dadario tuner to clip on the end of it.. The Little circle one. Fits perfect, small and out of the way. I play almost daily and after the first couple days of string stretch I don't have to constantly tune it. But you'll have to re tune any uke due to the type strings they are. The sound quality on this uke tho is superb for the price. Punches way above it's price point, and with the body construction it's impervious to humidity and weather changes. Would def buy again.

this uke is absolutely WONDERFUL. i have a tenor mahogany that i have been learning on for the past two weeks and decided that i also wanted to grab a concert size for my birthday. one for portability, but also to see if the smaller size uke is easier to play on for me. i decided to go with this Enya NOVA U due to the fact that is resistant to weather; the place i live at fluctuates temps often and can be incredibly humid at times, so i wanted an option that won't get damaged due to the weather. i've had this uke for just a few days and can say that i am incredibly happy with it! the only two "cons" (if you really want to call them one) is that: -first, the fretboard seemed slightly dirty upon arrival so i did have to clean with a damp microfiber. wasn't too bad, but did also seem to lift color off onto the rag. not sure if this was just the dirt or the instrument itself, but it turned my white rag black. -secondly, i wish the hardshell case did have a pocket somewhere to hold accessories, whether internally or on the outside. it did come with a small microfiber bag with the capo and strap, but there's no space to set it inside the case. i had to undo the side strap and hook in onto that to keep it with the instrument. these two qualms are why i did not give it 5 stars. HOWEVER, neither of my negatives affect playability whatsoever. it sounds great, and also comes with an extra set of fluorocarbon strings. overall, i am absolutely loving this so far and don't really have many negatives to say about it! and with the sale currently, getting this for just under $80 with tax is amazing. thanks Enya!

This was my first soprano ukulele purchase, as I already own a tenor and a concert made of wood. I wanted to hear the difference in sound between the materials/designs and have come to the conclusion that I generally prefer wood bodied ukuleles. That said, this is still a great option for travel or for beginners, because it is easy to hold, lightweight and very durable, especially for younger players. The tuning retention is quite good, so it's still a quality product and I don't regret purchasing it, especially if I want to take it on a road trip. I appreciate that a uke capo is included, as none of my other instruments included one with purchase.

I had lower expectations because of the price. I have a Martin that sounds great. This one is solid. A must have. Sounds awesome. Easy to play. Easy to tune. Best buck for ur money

After picking up this instrument last fall, I was hooked! I'm a paddleboarder, and brought a wooden uke out on the water, nervously. The internet then read my mind and started advertising the Enya Nova to me. I compared it thoroughly with the cheaper Kala waterproof options and the pricier Outdoor models. No matter where I looked, the Enya U had glowing feedback - and I stand behind all those 5-star reviews. The sound is brilliant, and the carbon fiber composite resonates magically! I've had it for 4 weeks and play it daily because it sounds so beautifully compared to my wooden concert & soprano sizes. I'm still winter paddling in MA, and it has seen no damage as I clip it to the bungees on the nose of my board and my paddling leaves cold water droplets all over it - I just wipe it off when I return to the car. I've brought it out in below freezing temps and will road trip with it next humid New England summer. The temperature does not impact the sound whatsoever. The bag is custom fitted to this model and provides ample protection for travel - the uke itself is incredibly durable, as well. I highly recommend this instrument in whatever color warms your heart - I'm in love! When I'm ready to get myself a better quality soprano, add a tenor to my collection, or invest in an electro-acoustic, I'll be adding another Nova to my stringed stash... and I'll now be scoping out their wooden ukes, too. Edit to add in July 2022: I'm still playing this ukulele, even after dropping a 4lb iron anchor on the soundboard - no damage... not even a scratch in the painted finish! I bought a soprano shortly after, and they both live in my car year round. They're a joy to play and so great for outdoor adventure! I also got the tenor last fall - it's also great, and has upgraded features, but the concert is my favorite of the 3. Great sound quality for a travel ukulele; Outstanding value for the money; Mind-blowingly durable; Fun for all skill levels!

This ukulele is one of those exceedingly rare items that was conceived and executed in a way that can only be described as brilliant. That it’s made of molded material means it can have the kind of complex curves that make this the most comfortable to hold and play ukulele ever made. Everything is smooth, no sharp edges, it’s a joy. That they chose a very good grade of material to construct the ukulele from means that it will last a very long time and, with decent care, a lifetime. Aesthetically it’s very nicely put together, joints are invisible, the finish is pleasingly subdued (I have the black soprano version), and the contrasting hardware is attractive. The cost is hardly more than that of a child’s toy ukulele, though it is decidedly not a toy, and from an innovative design, build, and value perspective it is unmatched. Of course we own ukulele’s to play and to enjoy the music we make with them, so how they sound is very important. The sound as it comes is fine, but I suspect the strings were chosen to provide volume and as a result they’re a little sharp. They’re not sharp to the degree they’re harsh, but they’re not the softer tone I prefer and have become accustomed to from my Kala ukuleles. I think they’re perfectly acceptable, but I swapped them for a set of Aquila Super Nylgut AQ-100 High G Soprano Ukulele Strings, and I love the sound. It’s a personal choice. I cannot imagine a better ukulele for the beginner to learn on, and that’s good enough for the expert to have and enjoy as a knock around spur of the moment companion. In summary, it’s absolutely brilliant.

I ordered a pink electric one back in June 2022, but very disappointingly I received an orange one. It came from the States and there was no response to my complaints or pleading for a change, so I just had to thank goodness it wasn’t black or grey. I’ve loved playing it, more than all of my other much more expensive ukuleles, but i’ve still hankered after a pink one. Well I might be greedy, but I now have this beautiful pink one, not electric, but fabulous, light weight, easy to play, sounds fabulous. My health is not too good, and apart from the fact this pink one is my absolute favourite and the orange one secondly, it’s so much easier to just leave them hanging around, no worries about packing them away in their cases to protect them from dogs and cats, or spilt drinks. I love them both, but more especially my new pink one.

BRILLIANT!!! My third Enya ukulele and I am, like the others delighted with it! I have the orange one which, at the time of writing was free delivery and less time to wait. It sounds fabulous! A lot brighter than my other ukes and does not sound plastic at all (possibly due to the 30% carbon fibre, but who knows). The action is fab, really low but with no buzzing. Far and away the best concert size Uke I have, and a pleasure to play. While I am in my 50’s, I do think at this price this would be a great Uke to learn on for a child, as the mix of carbon fibre and plastic makes it really tough and of course would survive school. But I would recommend it to anyone, and having played it consider calling it a ‘travel Uke’ to be selling it short due to both it’s clear, bell like tone and playability. Minor gripes. For me, the matching strap was about 2 inches too short....it is comfortable for me, but fully extended...but good straps are cheap. Secondly, it comes with a matching case, which is really good considering the slim line nature of this Uke, but it has NO pockets...so nowhere to store a tuner....that said, not the end of the world. Would recommend this to anyone, it is too much fun! If I had known it would play this well for me (I have concert Ukes but prefer tenor size usually), I might have spent a bit more on the model with the pick up and effects. But delighted with mine, my best concert Uke by a long chalk.

Nice tone, i bought because of the nice reviews, it was good that there were more enya models available to buy in Europe I would buy another’s for sure!

È stato un regalo riuscito: elegante, leggero e resistente grazie al carbonio. Da musicista l’ha subito apprezzato: il suono è brillante, stabile e mantiene l'accordatura anche nel tempo, proprio come molti utenti hanno evidenziato nei commenti. Il manico sottile e la tensione delle corde lo rendono molto confortevole da suonare, perfetto sia per lo studio sia per performance informali. In più gli accessori inclusi (borsa, tracolla, capotasto e corde di ricambio) lo rendono pronto all’uso fin da subito, un vero kit completo . Insomma, un’ottima scelta: un ukulele di qualità, ideale per chi vuole uno strumento pratico, bello da suonare e da regalare. Consigliatissimo!
