THE tool for moving log pieces easily!
I bought this after a tornado took down several old-growth trees on my rural property. Didn’t have a tractor to move the cut log pieces, so I used this on my truck’s hitch to drag The logs closer to where I keep my woodpile. This set of jaws works great, my only regret is that I didn’t buy a bigger set, because I had cut several logs into lengths larger than these could accommodate. In addition to using these on my hitch, I also had no issue using heavy-duty carabiners and a recovery/tow strap to aid in reaching logs I couldn’t back my truck up to easily. I kept a sledge hammer handy to help pound the tips of the jaws in to the logs when I couldn’t maintain tension to make the jaws grip automatically. Bottom line: if you need to move wood from one spot to another, and have a vehicle you could hook this to, you can get the job done without a tractor or heavy machinery. This has proven to be a valuable tool in my tree maintenance stash! If I can find a larger set, I’ll probably end up getting it too!

Tough product
Great product, works fine so far for me. I've lifted about a couple dozen southern yellow pine logs (green) with it, up to 10' logs at 20" OD (~900 LBS) and bigger; one was 16' at 14" OD. No other support, all the weight is on just the tongs (the chain in the picture is just leveling the log). Get a good grab and it holds just fine. I drive it around hanging from my truck for around 2-3 minutes, bumping and swinging. Haven't had it slip or lose grab at all. Either this was a used product or low quality since the paint was chipping and had a little bit of surface rust on the ring. Still giving 5 stars because those are not big issues to me. It's also easy to use, works easy with my chains and winch.

Works well
I have been clearing land and this really helps. Much better than dragging it with a chain or rope.

Great for moving telephone poles!
We got a quantity of used power poles from the local power company to use in various projects (bridges, deer stands, etc). This tool, along with a pole boom and logging chain, on the 3 point hitch of our tractor, is great for lifting and moving used power poles and similar sized logs. I don't know how wide the jaws open, but it would work for for moving logs with a truck. I don't think it'll fit around anything too heavy for it to lift, it should outlast you. Sturdy and well made. Not crazy about the color, I may spray paint it, but it's a high visibility color, so it's not so easy to lose in the woods or around the farm should you drop, lose, or set it down somewhere. Wish I'd gotten one sooner!

Not perfect, but okay
They do what the are supposed to, but on some types of tree logs, like cedar, the teeth don't like to grip the bark. Also, these can be a little dangerous. I work pretty fast and loose sometimes and have swung these around only to clamp my arm a couple times. My fault, and it just takes a little caution, as anything should that includes weight and sharp pointy things.

Super time and back saver
I use a crane with a winch to load my truck with 8ft logs when I go for fire wood as my back is not what it used to be. Before I had to wrestle with the log to get a chain or cable around it in the center to hook up to the winch cable and then again when the log was in the truck. Now I maneuver the tongs to the center of the log to balance it and haul it up and into the truck and then just yank one side loose to disengage. Wonder full device!
