Now Foods D-Ribose Powder 100% Pure, 1 lb

Q: Is it normal for this product to have a horrible chemical smell? I have never used D-Ribose before so I have been trying to use but the smell ugh!

I found the same thing. Tried the Douglas Labs brand of Corvalen D-Ribose, and there was no chemical smell. Smells very clean, almost like vanilla.

Q: Is this made from corn?

It has no corn. It also has no milk, sugar,eggs, wheat, and no gluten. This is stated in the supplement facts on the back label.

Q: Has Now solved problem with D-Ribose?

When I contacted them last year, the receptionist stated that the acetone smell was a normal part of their manufacturing process. I imagine they would not be changing it anytime soon, unless their customer base drops enough to encourage them to address this issue. I returned my last order. Since then I have tried Doctor's Best D-ribose, which did not smell like paint thinner, even after a month of use. I have also heard good things about Douglas Labs' Corvalen D-ribose, from Nutrihealth - more expensive, but one reviewer said it gave 30% more energy vs. the 10-15% of regular D-ribose.

Didn't know they currently had a problem with it. I did read some reviews about it having a chemical type smell but those were from several years ago. I've been ordering this product from Amazon for almost a year & am on my 6th bottle & have never had any issues with any of them.. All of the bottles I've received have had the same slightly sweet smell that is common with D-Ribose.
