Yes it does test AA & AAA alkaline & NiMH rechargeables

Q: Instruction sheet says 3V lithium and 3.6V li-ion are supported, but its not clear which terminals to use. Anybody?

I'm not sure why the instruction sheet says you can test a lithium battery. The specification sheet for this particular model shows it can only test 9V, AA, AAA, C, D, & N type batteries. https://www.ztsinc.com/mini9RL.html

Q: does this test capacity of double A (AA) lithium batteries?

No. It tests alkalins and 1.2 NeMH, and 9 volt lithium, but not 1.5 lithium.\it does a very good job testing the range of batteries it is rated to test.
