How long does the heat last (minutes)?

The heat fades very, very quickly. I'd guess it stays very hot for maybe ~90 seconds, then hot for another ~2 minutes, and then warm for another ~8 minutes. Very disappointing. I haven't tried it in the freezer.

Why does it smell like amonia fresh out of the bag?

I don't think it has an amonia smell, It has a oder of some kind but nothing offense. It certainly helped my sore elbow.

How long should I freeze this ice sleeve before using?

No matter how long you freeze it, it won't stay cold for more than 10 minutes. Between the low cooling duration and the horrible chemical smell that wouldn't dissipate, I returned it.

Can it be heated up in the microwave?
