A nice devotee of Krishna gave me a copy of this book eight years ago when I was studying in college. I didn’t read it then, but kept it hoping to get through it someday. I ended up leaving school halfway through the next year to pursue an alternative lifestyle that felt more natural to me. That summer at a music festival I went to a seminar on dreamscapes, the speaker couldn’t get through security though so a Hare Krishna monk filled in for the time slot and taught us all how to chant the Hare Krishna mantra and what it is. I never meditated before and was happy to learn how spiritual advancement can be made naturally, and it awoke a desire to experience enlightened states without using substances. I got a call that weekend and was told an AmeriCorp position opened up for me in Texas so after that summer I left everything behind and took off in my car with just a few personal items and enough money to rough it for a 6 month service term without renting an apartment. One of those items was the Bhagavad Gita As it is that I was gifted. Upon arriving in Texas I had a strong feeling in my heart that pursuing the larger questions in life such as, “who am I? What is going to truly make the soul happy? And how can I help to make an impactful difference in the world?”. With all of this arising in my heart, I felt pulled and uncertain what to do. Pursue life the same way I had been? Or go deeper, into a realm unknown. I then began to read the Bhagavad Gita I had with me, hoping it had something to help me along the way. I found the book to be rich with insights, helping to clarify things I had thought about but had no guidance to understand. It revealed there is more to learn and gives practical guidance about how to experience higher states of love for God. I soon found myself reading it every day. I read with an open mind, although it was pretty foreign there was enough that was relatable that I could appreciate even what I didn’t understand. After some time someone at my AmeriCorp job noticed how much I was reading and asked if I had been to the temple or farm. I had looked at the temple online and wondered if they let people who want to practice live there, but never heard of the farm. She had a friend who lived at the Bhakti Urban Farm and invited me to a mantra meditation event one night. I went and had a great time. I kept going and experienced that the quality of the meditation, the conversations, and the atmosphere was different, I felt a natural clarity and happiness that I had been looking for. The devotees of Krishna kindly gave me a place to stay to practice the mantra and study more deeply. I came to experience that the Bhagavad Gita isn’t just an ancient philosophy in a book, but it’s something that can be experienced and perceived by one who applies it as it is. By the kindness of those whom I’ve met in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness community, and the personal reciprocation of Lord Krishna when approaching Him, my life has been completely transformed. More accurately, it has helped me to be more deeply in touch with myself, and with Krishna, it has also strengthened my capacity to express what is in my heart and what I’m experiencing more clearly in my words and actions. My whole life I had lived only selfishly, stealing, lying, cheating, exploiting, taking intoxicants of various types, and always thinking things should revolve around my desires at the cost of others. By coming in contact with this book and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, I have been given the strength to turn from all of that and live a simple, pure life, devoted to pleasing my most kind hearted spiritual master, and Krishna. I have now been living as a full time monk for nearly 8 years because of this book, and I can clearly see that it has given me life, please read this book with an open mind. If it’s hard to read then please get another book by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, or get his biography and learn about the messenger of the Supreme Lord. Every book spoken or written by him is totally empowered to bring about a spiritual revolution in the heart of the honest and sincere reader, and in that way, in society at large.

Wonderful daily reading book

I have been very excited to read this book. Since I have been reading it, it has given me a better understanding about life and the lord Krishna. It is definitely helping me on my path to spirituality and the Hindu culture. I really appreciate the fact that you get the information as it is presented and how it should be presented. It is not interpreted as someone’s opinion, but as actual information the way the book should be broken down so you can understand it clearly and in its entirety. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a clear understanding of the chapters and text as they should be. Warm regards!

I purchased this book because I was curious about the Gita. I am respectful of the Sanskrit text, Roman translation and English equivalent translation.

Had been finding this book since quite a while had issues in shipping but then i had to buy this from store. This is not book for me this is my life now.

Veiled reading

Good for non native speakers who still want to know the real shlokas

I don’t think i need to explain work of this book its most beautiful scripture that exist on earth

Unless this book is thoroughly understood, this life is wasted.
