Sweetbriar Classic Vintage Messenger Bag - Original Heavyweight Cotton Canvas Shoulder Bag with Upgraded Features

I wanted a vintage-look classic messenger bag to use as a prop for a skit. This bag is perfect. It is canvas with 2 outside pockets and one interior pocket, a Velcro closure and strap with padding. It is sturdy and well-made. It can easily fit a laptop (even my 17" one) with room for books or other items. I probably would not use it as a purse, but I think it could be used for travel as toiletries and extra clothing would fit nicely.

This Messenger Bag is exactly as described, note, it does not have a bottom insert so it can sit flat. But that can be fixed with a similar sized hard insert - if you need a flat bottom for any reason- then removed when not necessary. love the color - canvas feel and simplicity of the bag. Works great !! . Oh, it has a comfortable carrying shoulder strap ! Perfect.

This bag is really Good! At first it seemed small, but it was the perfect size!!! The front flap is somewhat thin enough to let pins go through but also not thin enough to rip. The pockets are nice, two on the side to fit a small water bottle, like a plastic one, but not for an owalla or Stanley. I am worried though that the bottom of the bag might give out though, cause to me it seems somewhat thin, but trust in it to last me some school years. It also hurts if you but like 5 books in it and a pencil case if you carry it for an hour straight while walking. But it’s super cute and I decorated it with some pins and keychains, and hold up good. Unfortunately there is no zipper to the main pouch, only one in the big pouch for money or whatever. Which makes it vulnerable for pick pocketers and purse snatchers. But overall cute, reliable for day-to-day, nice, comfortable, and easy to wear. Four stars (because if less security features and the bottom of the bag)

I got this for my husband and he loves it. He just needed a casual bag that could hold his 13” laptop and a few other things (snacks), and this fits the bill. It’s very loose, not like a structured briefcase/laptop style bag. Like it says, it’s a true messenger bag. The shoulder strap has a a moveable padded part (I’m sure this has a name but it escapes me), and the bag itself has small “handle” to pick it up from the body. I was extra impressed with the inside pockets. They are actual roomy pockets, not little slits. My only problem was deciding which color to get, but I think I chose well. It’s a nice medium neutral, and it isn’t too washed out/light.

I needed something new for carrying books, whiteboard markers and other materials to class. I saw this and liked the color so I bought it. I really want to like it but it has some drawbacks. First the good points: the material is sturdy and relatively durable. It has a decent amount of compartments without being overblown and gaudy like many backpacks/messengers/etc. The metal bits that attach the strap to the bag do NOT twist, contrary to what I've seen in some other reviews. Also it's big enough to carry one or two textbooks, a notebook and a binder as well as pens, markers, a compact umbrella (Florida) and calculator. The negatives: the hook-and-pile closure is terrible. Even with a nearly empty bag the thing just doesn't want to stay closed. With the aforementioned supplies in it, even though they fit without making it bulge or anything, the bag doesn't close at all. The strips of hook and pile just don't meet up properly. Another potential issue is that only one of the internal compartments has a zipper closure, all the rest are open. It would be less of a problem if the bag closed properly. Additionally (and this is the one that bugs me the most) is that the shoulder pad on the strap persistently squeaks as I walk around with this over my shoulder. I would prefer if my messenger wouldn't make it sound like I was farting every time I took a step. I would give it 2 stars but for $20 this bag is decent enough. For something you are going to use often, maybe spend a bit more and get something better.

Came in a clear bag plastic bag. Bag seems well constructed, canvas is a good weight. Outer side pockets are small, would not contain a water bottle, at best may hold a slender can beverage. Inside of the main area has a small sipper pouch - maybe 5x7. The two outer pockets on the front are of the same canvas as the bag. Despite that, the bag is pretty light and rolls up to a fairly small amount of space. This will store pretty compactly into another bag to carry an even smaller version of your stuff. Only quibble I have is about the velcro strip designed to hold the bag flap down. Its a bit odd, the hook side going across the whole bag flap, but the loop side is sewn perpendicular to the hooks so then only connect at a 1" square space, and isn't the most secure connection. Fine for me as I don't intend to use it for more than carrying around while walking, nothing too vigorous. Will suit my needs very well.
