No rust and No fuss. It works for my 12v pool lights.
I needed to replace two transformers for my pool. At 300 Watts, this was more than sufficient. I have one 300 Watt light in the pool and another 100 Watt light in the spa. I could save money and buy the smaller transformers with less Wattage capacity but this gave me the flexibility to add more lights and so I purchased two 300 Watt transformers. Input is 120volts AC. Output is 12, 13, or 14volts DC. Most lights are now low (12v) voltage and consume low power so this transformer is suitable for yard lighting or pool lighting; with 300 Watts available, I can imagine that one box could power an entire yard or driveway. My old transformers were twice the size/weight and all rusted on the inside and outside. I chose the PX300S because of the stainless steel housing (hence the "s" designation). The PX300 has a standard steel case that will begin to rust over time. The old transformers were functional but badly damaged from rain/corrosion; I was not going to take chances in my pool and replaced them when I built a new wall around my pool. I am no electrician but the diagram on the inside lid is self-explanatory. I simply knocked out the holes on the side, made a few adjustments to my wiring conduits with some parts from the local hardware store. The box comes with stainless brackets to allow mounting it on a wall. The wiring was a direct-connection using standard electrical parts. My old transformer (circa 1970s) was wired backwards but this transformer was much smaller in form factor and I simply reversed the wires inside the housing to make the connection work for me. Mine is made of stainless steel but painted gray; I have managed to accidentally scratch the housing and unlike the housing on my Intermatic pool timer, there is no rust! The front cover comes off completely and is held on with a single screw seen in picture - this really helps with access and wiring. It isn't an exciting purchase but with a little planning and some electrical conduit, any do it yourself home owner could create an outdoor lighting oasis.

Well made, easy to install and it really isn't that noisy
I purchased this transformer for LED lights that I have installed around the pool. In some of the reviews, the transformer was described as noisy and making a loud humming noise. I was nervous about purchasing this transformer because of those reviews, but I went ahead with the purchase anyway since there aren't many low voltage transformers that are available for installing lights close to a pool for safety reasons. I went ahead and installed this transformer on the back of my pool automation panel. It was very easy to both install the transformer and wire both the high voltage and low voltage side. There are simple instructions included with the transformer. I have Sixteen 5 Watt low voltage LED lights connected to it, so I'm getting close to the transformers maximum rated output, but the transformer has no issues with those LED lights, even when they are connected on about 150 feet of low voltage wiring. Once installed and the unit is operating, there is very little noise from it, even though I have 80 watts of LED lights connected. There is a small amount of noise, but nothing to the level that has been described by some of the reviews. Admittedly, this transformer is about 60 feet away from my main pool area, but even standing close to the transformer when its operating, it really isn't that loud, I guess if it was located close to a sleeping area you might just be able to detect the noise when it is operating, but even then I doubt that it would be annoying. So go ahead and purchase this item, it's rugged, well made and doesn't make that much noise. I'm 100% satisfied with this item.

Outstanding Purchase.
Great product! It was easy to install and works outstanding. I just installed my pool light and this inverter has 3 power options. 12 volts, 13 volts, and 14 volts. Since I ran an 80' line from the pool light to the inverter, I used the 14 volt line without any issues and when I volt checked the output, it registered at 14.9 volts. Outstanding product!

Looks like it's fixed my pool light that's been intermitent for years!
I had what I thought was a strange problem with my pool light for several years. The light would come on and run for around half an hour without any trouble, it would then shut off for a few seconds and then come back on. It would continue this pattern until it eventually killed the bulb in about a week and a half. Through some research I found out it was likely shutting off because it was sensing an overload or more likely, an over-heat condition. I had an electrician come out for unrelated work and chatted with him about the pool light. He asked if there was water in the fixture and when I told him there wasn't, he immediately told me I needed a new transformer. He told me he could do it for about a hundred bucks + parts but told me if I was comfortable with basic wiring I shouldn't mind doing it myself. Through some additional research I'm seeing these transformers have a useful lifespan of about 7 years or so. My old one was around 15 years old. If you have a pool light that doesn't work, an old transformer, and the light doesn't have water in it, this transformer is a good first step in trouble shooting.. Wiring is fairly straight forward with one exception, and the exception is why this is 4 stars instead of 5. I'm going to simplify a little for the sake of brevity. The box has two wires for the high voltage side and two wires for the side going to the light. The high voltage side is a black and a white wire. Simple enough, black to black and white to white. On the low voltage side it has two identical black wires with identical white writing on them. My pool light has one black wire and one white wire. A voltmeter straightened out which was hot but it could've and should've been easier. Update: Still no issues after over a year of use

Great Transformer And A Breeze To Install.....
I had a low-voltage transformer die last summer after a lightning strike near my home and needed to replace it. I found this Intermatic model on Amazon and have been very pleased with it ever since. It provides 300 watts of power for my lighting and is totally weatherproof in its design. The transformer I replaced was enclosed in plastic and always had problems with ants and other bugs getting inside. This Intermatic version features a steel enclosure that seals tight against the elements and anything else trying to get in. One thing to note is that this is only the step-down transformer and it doesn't include a photocell or timer that other units provide. This worked well for me since I had a timer controlling the entire circuit. The other nice feature of this unit is the easy selection of output voltage. Inside the unit you have the choice of several output voltages that allows you to adjust for carious loads. For example, if you only have a few lights located near the unit being powered by the transformer you can select the standard 12v setting. If instead you have a lot of light or a longer cable run you can select a slightly higher voltage to make up for the drop in current of the larger load. The ensures that all the lights will be the same intensity along the string. Great product - Well built and a good value!

Awesome for pool/landscape lights
Been using these for years. They work great. Reliable and don’t make buzzing noises like some others I’ve used. To early to tell if the stainless enclosure will last any longer then the regular one. Avoid the “pool tax” that pool brands add for rebranding units like this one. Would recommend
