Zane, a zebra with autism, worries that his differences make him stand out from his peers. With careful guidance from his mother, Zane learns that autism is only one of many qualities that make him special. Contains a "Note to Parents." Review: Excellent! - This was a fantastic book. I read it to the kids I worked with and they loved it. This book opened up their minds to new things and they had lots of questions. It was fantastic to see. The story was a little bit long but they managed to get through it. The pictures they had were beautiful and the wording wasn't too hard to follow. Review: Love it! - My 7 year old daughter has been struggling a lot since learning about her autism diagnosis. She was diagnosed at 20 months but only recently started to ask questions and understand that sheโs not quite the same as her peers. Her school counselor recommended this book and it really hit home for her. She talks about her autism stripe with pride now instead of telling me that she hates her autism.

Great book
I never leave reviews but i really likes this book. Really easy for kids to follow, the illustrations were great. Very empowering. Autism is a part if you but doesn't define you.

Excellent book for kids with autism, and their classmates.
Such a great book for my son. He really identified with the idea of having many different stripes, and that autism is just one part of who he is.

and I especially love the artwork
All my Stripes is a delightful way to broach the topic of differences with children with autism spectrum disorders, and I especially love the artwork, which is colorful and draws you in. It is a very nice way for parents to talk with children about the positive aspects of themselves that have nothing to do with autism and that autism is just "one of my stripes". The book is supposed to be for ages 4-8, but there are very few children at age 4 who would have any understanding that they have autism, or even that they are being treated differently by others. the book would be good for high functioning children with autism starting around age 6 and would extend beyond age 8 for children with moderate or more severe levels of autism. The Reading Guide gives parents additional information regarding various statements in the book and the Notes to Parents section provides additional resources as well. I wish the treatment section included other therapeutic approaches (e.g. Floortime/DIR).
