This lens has made me a lot of money, highly recommend. But baby it. Very expensive to repair due to the uniqueness.

The camera glitches and the pictures gets blurry! Don’t buy the lenses from this third party seller is not good!

Did a lot of research before taking the plunge on this expensive lens and was a little skeptical of the hyperbole, especially since I don't use zoom lenses for commercial work. Then, when I took it out for the first weekend of shooting and immediately understood why people were gushing about its capabilities. I needed a better super-wide match to the Zeiss primes I've been shooting for decades, and this is it. The micro-contrast is great, CA is minimal to non-existent, lines are beautifully straight (requiring almost no correction in Lightroom) and the colors are brilliant. If there were an Otus 18 or 20mm lens, it would look like this. Portraiture at the longer focal lengths is fantastic in the central two-thirds, and only lightly distorted in the outer third (but still pleasing), and skin tones look very good. I can't speak to image stabilization or autofocus — I don't use either. The only drawback may be the price, but in this case, you're getting exactly what you'd expect you are paying for. Very, very impressed.

I can laud this lens for being brave enough to go out to 12mm, but billing it a g-master and not talking about the fisheye makes me seriously doubt sony's marketing. Edge-of-frame distortion, even after correction in lightroom, is borderline unusable, so you'll be taking center-frame crops (at which point, why even have an ultrawide?) or having to be VERY careful of your composition. Maybe if you can find solid color blocks or other nonpatterned stuff to line the sides of your photograph you can get usable results from this thing, but ultimately, and especially for the price, I can't recommend it.
