What do these smell like?

Like Heaven. LOL I love them so much I called them and asked them to make air fresheners and perfumes. I'm not sure exactly what it smells like ... maybe Jasmine or something. Make sure it's the blue not the purple. Purple do not smell good.

Does this product break down solids?

When you say "solids", yes it will help break down human waste and toilet paper. We used a septic safe TP, not RV toilet paper (aka sandpaper) and flushed our tank once a week while we were living in our RV during the time our home was being built and never had a problem. Hope that helps!

Is this a single pack of 50 pods or 5 packs of 10 pods each?

It's a single pack of 50 pods. They are industrial strenth so you rarely need more than one in an RV tank. Very economical! I won't buy anything else.
