are the pages bi-directional?

The pages are only landscape mode. I think that's what you are asking...to view a photo perpendicularly you have to turn the book or your head!

Does this album allow for addition of refill pages?

Thank you for a great question. No, this album is bookbound - like a library book. Its pages are fixed. There are albums like this that are refillable. Let us know what your needs are and we'll supply you links. Best - Mary from SendAFrame

Can you put (1) 5x7 photo in vertically on one sheet?

The bi-directional pages hold 2 horizontal or 1 vertical 4" x 6" photo. This album will not hold a 5x7 photo.
