W21TP - Standard of Excellence Book 1 Trumpet - Book Only

This was a great beginner book for my son. I appreciate that the book gradually progresses from learning single notes to mastering longer songs. There is a key in the back that helps with understanding the symbols and their meanings in terms of notes and tones. We have one like this for a different instrument that my other son has been using for about 2 years now. The songs are straightforward and easy to read. It's a great book that helps teach kids how to read music.

The Standard of Excellence Book 1 for Trumpet works great for my daughter to practice at home. It’s easy to follow, well-structured, and perfect for beginners. Highly recommend for anyone starting out on trumpet!

For beginners, I defy you to beat this simple, clear, very inexpensive instruction book. So, it doesn't come with a CD, go to the directed web site of the publisher and download to your own disc for a 99 cent cost and pocket the net $13.00 where it can burn a hole in your pants until you can rush to the expensive coffee bar of your choice instead of going to the local convenience store (of your choice) where the same beverage which you will prepare yourself will be less than $2.00. I bought this to relearn the trumpet, after recently relearning the euphonium. I haven't played in over 10 years. It is amazing how it all comes back like riding a bicycle. I recommend this book if you are new to trumpet playing or if you want your own copy of a year 1 trumpet book that the school provides. It is also decent to use as a warm up or brainstorming tool.

The book is good, but it’s disappointing that you can’t access any free online content with this purchase.

This is our third child starting an instrument, and Standard of Excellence Books have been perfect for each of our beginner students. Now on our third new instrument, we choose Standard of Excellence as our go-to book. The songs increase in difficulty incrementally, we love having the scales and fingering charts in the back of the book. You can be sure your student will get a good foundation with these books!

Band teacher insisted we purchase book through him bc we’d get the wrong one, but he was just trying to make money off us. This was exactly what my son needed and it was cheap.

Nice just what my teen was looking for

I am really enjoying this book. For some background, I am a musician learning trumpet as an additional instrument. I don't think it will teach somebody to read music but if you know some basic notation reading, this book provides a ton of absolute beginner pieces of music that go up very gradually in difficulty. It includes backing tracks that can be downloaded or played online and make practice way more fun, specially for the starting trumpet student who has a very limited range.
