What cartridge is used with the calligraphy pen?

This isn't a calligraphy pen. This is fountain pen with a fine point. However if you purchase one with a stub nib, oblique nib, or broad nib you can do calligraphic effects with it. Kaweco also does make pens specifically for calligraphy. That being said, this pen uses standard international short cartridges.

Can anyone recommend other ink cartridge brands that are lower cost and higher quality?

You can always use Diamine, Montblanc, Faber Castell Standard International cartridges. They all have wide selection of colors and work well with the Kaweco Sport. 🖋

Yes one cartridge . It may have even leaked (comes from Germany). But that should not deter you - these are standard cartridges that you can buy onAmazon

Is the ink cartridge that comes with the pen black or green?

The pen comes with one ink cartridge, which was actually blue, but you can buy other ink cartridges in black and green (as well as ruby red, purple, sepia, etc.) from the same brand and from other ink cartridge makers. It’s a cartridge system fountain pen, so you’ll want to get more ink cartridges anyway.
