THE tool of many uses
This 18" Imacasa is awesome! It comes with an edge, but not really very sharp, as the best of these are left for the end user to sharpen to taste, or for application. I wanted it shaving sharp, and had a hand finished razor's edge on it in an hour or so. I use sharpening stones with 240, 600, and then 1000, followed by a little stropping. This blade sings when pinged, and makes a beautiful sound. For general brush clearing and light duty shrubs and bushes there is no finer tool. Whether it is tall grass, thicker weeds, stringy lilac branches, or 3" thick maple pruning, the machete does it all. The power and efficiency of the machete is amazing. It is easy to swing, but bites hard on impact without feedback to your whole arm or body. Just to get my head on straight I watched some videos of machete use to avoid accidents - this is no joke, people get massively injured with machete user errors ,and it happens in a hurry and it is devastating. Be very careful, and be sure to take the strokes outside of the radius of the body, and expect the machete to go through things and have ample room with no other person in the vicinity. I have several large knives, hatchets, and assorted power tools, and this Imacasa machete is rapidly becoming one of the most versatile and useful of the bunch. The handle is great, with a little hook at the pommel end which helps anchor the hand. The sheath is not very good, but it does have rivets along the blade edge, which will help durability, but this is really just a matter of time before it fails. For the money, this package is well worth it.

Great bush blade!!!
So for the price and the quality, this is one of the best machete/bush knives that one can purchase. The machete has been used on virtually every continent and its utilitarian uses are too many to mention. So, down to the review: handle feels good, a bit smooth for my taste since it doesn’t have a textured grip. Balance is excellent. Point of balance on the blade I purchased (16 inch blade) was about 2.75 inches in front of the hilt (which isn’t bad at all). Semi-flexible blade to handle the constant chopping and slashing movement, and the easy of sharpening was great. A ‘Caution’ sticker was placed on the side of the blade stating that it should be sharpened using a whetstone (or a moistened stone with water or perhaps oil). Not sure if that makes a difference but I followed the advice and moistened by stone with water before sharpening it.

Uneven grind, flimsy, thin sheath
There wasn't much to like about this. Couldnt cut grass, def couldnt chop wood, I felt every vibration in the handle, the lanyard hole had to be drilled out, the sheath rips from the machete tip, the blades edge was longer on one side by atleast an inch then the other side. Probably the worst machete Ive ever used. Will probably get used as a halloween prop.

Good Machete. Plan on making or finding a better sheath.
Great cheap beater machete that may need a better edge upon arrival. Although mine came fairly sharp.. 1075 spring steel is very tough. Great for grasses, shrubs, weeds, and btanches up to 4 inches thick. Get a thicker machete if you want more weight and chopping power. This is very light aand well balanced. Perfect for a bug out bag. Sheath is crap and best way to fix this is to order a plastic ontario machete sheath and cut it down to the size of your machete or make one if you are a DIY kind of person. Taking 1star off for the garbage sheaths Imacaasa uses. Machete itself is nice but will need sharpening if you are the sort who prefers razor sharpness. Mine came with a decent work sharp edge.

Great Machete
I am a land surveyor so for what it is worth we use these daily and use them pretty rough. I broke my 28" , as I have broken quite a few 18"-24", on some hard trees but that was after a lot of clearing. The 28" are now back in stock so I ordered another one as it is my favorite machete I have owned. After you receive it expect to finish the edge on it but when it it sharp it will stay pretty sharp. I would recommend this machete.

You get what you pay for
Ehhh not bad for a 20$ tool. Definitely not a good quality machete but worth 20$ . I work in a machine shop so I put a super sharp edge on it and went to the bush for a walk. Worked good on soft heavy sticks but it’s not heavy enough to cut threw thin sticker bushes. So I guess it depends what you are using it for. But for 20$ what do u expect. It’s still cool and it actually held the edge much better then I thought it would.

needs to be sharp
This is not a good tool, it is honestly not sharp at all and needs sharpened to use for anything. We got this to keep on hand for chopping grass and light weeds at the lake, as well as snake protection and it will not cut threw grass even. Looking for a good sharpener to be able to use it.

Good machete
This is a good machete. I just like the tramontina better. I'm sure it's not an issue, but the handle on this one is injection molded around the blade, and the tramontina is rivited. I guess I just like to see the rivets. The blades, however, seem about the same, so pick your poison
