Baby LOVES his captain calamari. We use it exclusively as a car seat toy as of now and our rides have been a lot smoother since. Once he sees this toy he starts playing with it right away. There are so many textures, sounds, things to grab. It is perfect. I am considering getting the other lamaze toys because this one is so good.

My daughter loves captain calamari. Each tentacle has a different texture or feature so it's endlessly entertaining. There's great potential for sensory exposure here. When she's teething she loves the plastic rings. The crinkly sections and knit tentacle are also big hits! The mirror underneath is fun. He's very soft overall and has really vibrant, pretty colors. He's been used near daily for several months but has held up really well. He is pretty large, so if hanging from a car seat handle be careful walking or jostling car seat or he can swing and hit baby in the face. We solve this problem by simply sliding it down to the side before picking up the car seat. Captain also sits nicely on the floor with all the tentacles spread out so it's versatile as a car seat and a tummy time toy. I recommend this to everyone with a baby!

These toys by Lamaze are adorable and entraining. My almost 2 year old son still plays with his Freddie the Firefly so when my brother and sister in law said that their nursery would a nautical/under the sea theme I didn't hesitate to get Captain Calamari! I love that these have so many different textures and fun surprises for kids to explore. The eye patch on Captain Calamari flips up, the bottom area that is surrounded by the tentacles is a mirror. There are several textures and sounds, the colors are vibrant and eye catching. It is really everything you need in a baby toy. I also got Sprinkles the Jellyfish. That one doesn't have quite as many fun features but is still a very cute toy!

It’s actually a lot larger than I expected, which is great! Our boy loves looking at the mirror underneath, and listening to all the crinkles. He’s 3 months, and still too little to hold this large toy. The tentacles are perfect for his little hands, and he likes the variety of noises and textures. But the top part is just larger and too heavy right now. I’m sure once he can hold onto it, he’ll play with it a lot. Edit: Our kiddo is now 4.5 months old, and this is his favorite toy. It is no longer too large to hold. He grabs right onto the tentacles with ease and loves chewing on the different textures. He can grasp the top part just fine now, and loves staring and babbling at the face. The hat portion also makes a crinkle sound, and he likes shoving that in his mouth and yelling at it (whatever makes ya happy, buddy). Just all around a wonderful toy. It's the one we always pack when going somewhere.

Captain Calamari has become a favorite thing for me to buy for new babies. I first bought one for my nephew, then my friend bought one for her godson. I just bought another for an upcoming baby shower. The toy has a nice variety of textures, and it's cuteness level is very high. The toy is well made, too. What more can you ask for?

This month my baby has started reaching out to grab things and Captain Calamari had been the best toy to encourage this! She has a playmat that you can hang things from and we put her underneath it. It is easy for her to reach up and grab the rings and move the toy around. When it moves, the rattle makes noise and some of the other legs crinkle. She can grab the other legs too and feel different textures. She looks at it and smiles as she plays. ❤️ I didn't realize my baby would enjoy it so much this young! I'm sure she will continue to as she grows too! Whoever made this obviously put a lot of thought and care into what babies enjoy and that means a lot to my baby and me! ❤️ *Edit- Baby is 5 months now and a fussy one! This is one of the only toys she enjoys! We bring it everywhere! She now loves putting the rings and the ends of the tentacles in her mouth. I attached a pic of it in her car seat.

Captain Calamari is fun and the quality is phenomenal. He has survived all of the drool and ground slamming that two young children generously provided. Easy to hook on to other items to create makeshift overhead mobiles to entertain the little ones. Grandma once hooked Captain Calamari to a cat toy fishing pole and provided hours of entertainment thoughout the day. Washes well and after over 8 years he still has all of his pieces and occasionally entertains the latest extended family additions of drool and chaos. Highly recommend.

It’s quite big, I bought it for my new born without checking the dimensions, thinking it is small, it was to my surprise when it got delivered that it’s quite big, she only started using it at around 3 months and even then she can’t carry it yet but i like that it’s lightweight and she can play with it while laying down without hurting her even though shes still can’t hold the whole thing by herself. It helps her explore with colours and sounds on the tentacles, and she loves it.

A resounding yes to this Captain! There's enough and more going on in just one toy to keep baby engaged for quite some time. Here's what to expect: - Rings to grab/ gnaw on (my teething 7mo is particularly fond of those) - Crinkly sounds from some of the tentacles - Rattle/ bead hanging down the centre - A plastic (but very clear) mirror on the base of the toy (not visible in the website picture) - when baby holds up the toy, or you do, s/he can see her/ his face on there - Amazing amount of detail (notice the shiny yellow satin boot on one tentacle!) Can be clipped on to a stroller/ car seat/ crib rails as well. Quality is flawless. Amazon doesn't disappoint on the whole packaging and delivery as usual. This one is one of my favourite Lamaze toys - and from what I can see, my little boy's too!

Good size and nice to have on the carriage

My granddaughter is totally mesmerised with this toy! She's had it around 4-6 weeks now (4 months old) and she will not take her eyes off it, she's reaching for it now and every time I take it out its like a whole new surprise to her all over again! Even the dog wants to play with it!
