I have a propane vent free fireplace that I need to convert from what looked like a 1lb fitting (but isn’t) to a 20lb propane tank. Will this work?

I bought this to go from a propane tank used on travel trailers ( or full size gas grill ) to a 100 lb propane tank !

What is the thread size on the pol end. seem to be larger than 1/2. 5/8 maybe?

POL stands for Prest-O-Lite It's a Proprietary non-standard left hand thread developed by them years ago. I'd guess about 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter.

I need to connect a new tank to an old accessory. Any suggestions?

Your do not need this fitting to use the older style fitting. The new tanks have inside threads to accommodate the older fittings
